Which country do you think suffered the most in world war 2?

Well we know that the Soviet Union lost 26 million citizens, however this is a question asking which country suffered the most overall, not just casualties, but also in terms of damage, loss of life, enslavement, economic impact, cultural losses, etc...

Just curious what people think.

Japan was a strong and ruthless country(but that was because the "leaders"/emperors would threaten them to be killed if they did not kill)

In my opinion Japan's action against Pearl Harbor was stupid, so I don't consider them as suffered the most, they deserved it.

Hmm Japan suffered considerable damage. But those were just two cities. Germany's capital was destroyed unimaginably, the Soviet Union had multiple cities razed to the ground, 85% of Warsaw, Poland's capital was completely leveled with the ground by the time the Soviets entered it in 1945. My vote went to Poland. Perhaps because I am Polish I am more educated about Poland's experiences in the war. The Soviet Union lost 26 MILLION citizens because of the war, Stalingrad was destroyed, Leningrad was destroyed, and many other major cities.

However it is interesting to see what other people think and why they think that way.

A nuke'd area does not lose it's radiation in a year, it takes a while, and sure they came back to their lands like more or less in 3 months, but they had to live with their radiated lands and people still suffered from radiation sickness.

there's nothing worse than to have something that you can't see nor do to much about kill you(like a deadly disease) .

Jews didn't have a country then. And it is interesting that when people refer to Jews they seem to exclude the country from which they came. They were Jewish, that was their religion, but 3 million of those were also Poles, most of which considered themselves Poles with Jewish descent or Jewish religion. Same thing for the over 1 million Soviet Jews, of which many were Russians, Ukrainians, Belorussians, etc..they were Jewish but they were still loyal to their country. Some of you on this forum are Christian others are Muslim. But if you died fighting for your country you would count yourself as a casualty of your country first would you not?

Doesn't matter who is the suspect and the victim. Germany went from the most powerful country to just a pile of shit.
They suffered a lot financially, casualty, and many other things. Even problems broke out after the war, aka Berlin Wall divide and so on.
