You saying that Soivet lost 26 million citizens? Now I'm only guessing but I'd say that Stalin killed 50% of those poeple, he was just as bad as Hitler if not even worse.
Stalin did not kill half of them, no. However yes he was just as bad as Hitler. And many of those casualties were suffered because of the Soviet commanders' disregard for the lives of the Soviet soldiers and civilians. But ask yourself, if it was not for this controversial stubborn resistance, would the Soviet Union be able to turn the tide? In the end it was the pointless charges, the relentless defenders, the disregard for human life which SAVED the Soviet Union. It was precisely because the Soviets simply refused to give up Stalingrad, I mean the Germans almost won there, and I mean they were an inch away from victory, they held 90% of Stalingrad at times. Yet the bloody and many times careless charges across the Volga river are the exact reason stalingrad did not fall.
For people saying "You are retarded for saying Germany", this is not a question asking who deserves the most sympathy. Germany suffered A LOT during world war 2, however I think they deserved all of it, and they should have been kept as a puppet state. I think Germany didn't get everything they deserved, they should have been punished more. Alas, the same force that defeated Germany(the Soviet Union), prompted the Western Allies to rearm and rebuild West Germany.
