Why the hell are people starting to think that making people pay to have their own characters is a good idea?

Actually it used to happen alot while most the ots' were war servers. You could use a temporary guest character that everyone has access to or buy your own.
I still think this is better than a shop full of gold or items.

Think of it as a premium feature..
 
It's still dumb as fuck. Who the hell would play an OT that's pretty much like XBox360? Hey, we're gonna give you the games and shit, but you have to pay if you wanna play them.
