Complaint Site downtime?

The forum was transfered to the other side of the world (as far as I know) and you expect not to experience downtimes, errors, etc.

I guess they are working to fix everything, all we can do is report and be patient.

http://otland.net/f14/otlands-update-vbulletin-4-a-96520/

After months of planning and working, we have finally launched the update! There are still a lot of things to be fixed but I'll leave that for later.

So what is so special about this update?
The most important changes are the server move and the update to the new major version of vBulletin, 4. OtLand has been moved to a server colocated in Chicago, with a lot more powerful hardware than what our previous server had. We thank everyone that has donated to OtLand for making this possible.

The update to vBulletin 4 makes the forum more modern, using new technology for most of the stuff on the forum... but it has also brought us a new design. It might take a while to get used to it, and we expect to get complaints on it but we hope that you will describe how it can be improved. I would like to say thanks to Deavz, Chrsman and Hani for assistance with the styling, but most of the design credits should go to Holix.

We have also integrated a server list view which lists 10 random servers, and a subversion for projects supported by OtLand. Most of the plugins have been rewritten by me to fit OtLand as good as possible. The syntax highlighting plugin which only used to be available for Lua tags has been extended with C#, C++, Erlang, Javascript, Python, SQL and XML.

The forum structure has been revised. All the OpenTibia related stuff can be found below the OpenTibia category, such as resources and tutorials. A miscellaneous section has been added for support, and tutorials which aren't related to OpenTibia... and some other changes have been made.

The donators usergroup has been renamed to OtLand Premium which is a more suitable when we are providing benefits that most people who donate expect. This doesn't mean that OtLand becomes more commercial, the money received from premium subscriptions will still be seen as donations!

Everyones reputation points has been reset as we change the factors for reputation points with this update, we hope this doesn't bother you too much.

Kind regards,
OtLand Staff.

Hell yeah! :)

:p:p:p

I'm pretty sure the site got DOSed.
Some guy was telling me on an OT that he hit the site a few times with his shell and it went down with only 1000 packets a second.

Are you stupid or can't you just read?

Ok so you're telling me some guy told me he was going to take the site down, then when I check the site it's down... that was just a coincidence?

no it wasn't
1)The site was down
2)Some guy wanted to show off and said he will take it down
3)you checked the site, was off and believed him
That was what happened, probably...

The site went down, doesn't mean it got attacked, at the moment it seems like anything you read is true..

1) I was on the site.
2) He said he can take it down with 1000 packets a second. (Which is pretty funny IMO)
3) I said ok.
4) He told me to refresh.
5) The site was down.
6) He stopped.
7) I posted this thread.
8) He started hitting it again.

If it was a hosting situation don't you think it would be down longer.
Most DOS scripts can only run for like 30 seconds at a time.

Talaturen and/or Kornholijo post in IRC that they will quickly do some spot maintinance on OtLand since they're still fixing up/changing/(adding?) some things with vB4.

Those saying that they're using a DDoS are probably on IRC and wait until one of the Admins say OtLand is coming back in x minutes..

DDoS? Rofl.
Learn english then come back to this thread.

A DOS is not a DDOS.
They're two different things.

DDOS uses bots.
DOS uses shells.

So you're saying that you were involved in a denial of service attack against OtLand and then you complain that the site is down? How intelligent.
