Our currency is bsF (bolivares fuertes) and the currency exchange is currently controled by a goberment institution called cadivi.

If you want to be able to use us$, you need to make a request to cadivi, if they approve (which is hard as !@#%) you cannot exhange it in cash just like that, you can only use 400 us$ / year for online payments with your credit card and 3.000~ us$ / year when you travel.

You can NOT receive us$ anyhow, banks accounts are bsF only and even if you had banks in other countrys there is no a legal way to send those us$ from your account to Venezuela, well I guess its legal if you travel, withdraw and just bring that money in your pocket, but wtf...

So yeah, thats the basics, I can answer more questions if interested. thxbye

This is the worst thing ever, also if we want to buy dollars to other persons (this is not legal), we have to pay it for almost 4x the value

I explain myself, 6.3 bsf is equal to 1 dollar, but that with the official change from cadivi, people who sells those dollars knows that is hard to find, cuz 400$ come on, for a year is nothing, so they start to sell 1 dollar for 25bsf (almost 4x the legal value), so it is impossible for us to waste our dollar in things like donations or dedicated servers

Raiden from Zulia

Well even though that is not exactly how it works (people just don't randomly decide that 25 bsF is good price for a dollard) his point is truth, there is something called "paralel dollard" which is the "ilegal non-official" published value of dollard, which is currently 28.73 and has been increasing around 0.1~ daily during the past weeks (the fact that raiden, being from Venezuela doesn't know the exact value of paralel dollard talks about how fast it has been increasing lately), this "paralel dollard" is the price people usually work with, since everyone knows how hard is to get dollards or any other currency legaly, they usually end up buying it to other people / company to that last price, which as he said, is around 4x times the official price, making it a painful punch to your pocket

Son, no one will really care about this issue. I was born in venezuela so I know what you guys mean... but these regulations have not been placed just randomly. Globalization (I hope you know what it is) has taken over the world along with large economies (U.S, UK, EU, etc) if we don't protect ourselves from the aggressive politics and economies that tend to buy OUR labour as cheap as they want there is no way we can prevail as a country who stands for its own nor a continent. If you don't believe me do a little research and find out how much % of the companies in countries which have been overtaken by foreign industries do actually belong to the national profit, for example, here in Australia, there are enormous producers of food owned by the chinese, by the japanese, highways owned by other countries simply because the government does not have the money to maintain the growth rate, therefore they have to rely on the relationship between regional allies.

Althought im not there because of my studies, we have a lot to fight for. The regulations might not be fair and yes there will always be corruption, it happens every where. not in the same way but it still is a reality in the whole world.

The official regulations on $ exists because entities like the FMI (International Monetary Fund for english) have destroyed our country in the past and even caused a Coup'd'etait in the 1980's. along with foreign companies stealing our precious resources and going away leaving what they considered to be fair but not fair at all for our people. Peace and dont worry, it'll all get better. ;)

Mr Loltek, I dont want to talk about politics or corruption or why this happens or whatever, I just wanted to make a thread explaining our situation about currency to link people here because I'm tired of explaining it myself when people don't understand why I can't pay them or why they can't pay me etc... also because there are alot of players from Venezuela and this may help someone with his OT, having this clear if you are dealing with alot of players from Venezuela you should consider using payment methods that allow easy ways to pay in bsF instead of us$, such as contenidopago or daopay.

I edited main post and made it simpler

Maybe change the title from "... currency trouble" to "... currency situation".

Is it just the US dollar, or is it the euro and most other foreign currencies as well?

Every currency that is not bsF... this is suposed to "force" people to invest inside the country and dont spend money outside, but they sucks and made it all wrong, also the system is a complete failure now (because of corruption pretty much)

Just dollars.

Nope

Maybe change the title from "... currency trouble" to "... currency situation".

Ok
