Hello guys :)

I've recently stumbled upon a couple of pics in the Showoff section with some beautiful optical illusions and I really really wanted to created something inspired by those pictures...

My question to you is: how on earth do you achieve that effect?! I've been trying to do that for a few days now, honestly, I'm clueless whatsoever...
I would greatly appreciate it if you could either give me some tips or a detailed explanation on this matter.

Best regards! :)

Sorry for not being clear enough. What I want to do is create that "semi-elevated" level like on the first picture with only the first part of the stairs/ramp; however, when I place the border to cover it accordingly to the pictures it goes below the cave wall thingy etc. (the main problem is that the borders do not go on top like on the pictures)
I'm 99% sure the first picture uses custom sprites. You can however use ID 356 - 382 to get borders on top of cave dirt walls but only the borders facing south and east can be used to create the illusion of semi-elevation.

The second map is based on placing a tile north of a mountain border, making it look as if it's on a higher level. You use trees and bushes to hide the edges of...
I'm not sure what is not clear to you in these two pictures? In first, you take the border and just create it on the grass to create a feeling of what's within these borders is elevated. The only thing that remains mysterious to me are these short stairs / ramps, but perhaps it uses custom graphics?

On the second picture you again take mountain border elements and place them accordingly to create such effect.

If you told us how you are trying to do this and what is the effect you have (as opposite to what you expect), you may get a better explanation of what you're doing incorrectly.

You use trees and bushes to hide the edges of the mountain borders and you'll have to make sure that you don't place any ground tiles on the sqm that aren't viewable because of the mountain borders or else you'll be able to walk 'under' the mountain border.

Thank you kindly @RokojoM for your detailed explanation :)
