I would have the legs more separated and the outline also applied in few pieces inside the creature to have the arms and body more distinguishable. Would work on the highlight as well :)
No doubt I'm trying to take in all of you spriting grandmasters tips, but a small(read:huge) part of me want to see your takes on it 😁

just played around with adding more shadows, few more details and changed some minor shapes. In my opinion it looks more like a swampy monster, so changed the colour of it to match a bit this climate. few more spikes. ofc, this is made for fun, so there is nothing to compare, I think your work is really good and I just made myself quick edit of how I see it. don't take it as a guide or anything :D

edit: or maybe the second version of him digging through the swampy mud

That turned out really cool  yes, been playing wc3 a lot recently and been ploughing through hordes of murlocs so I thought I'd make one :p your details for sure make it seem more alive! Love it!
Nice! I would invest now on making the animation more appealing. Maybe 4 frames at least instead of just 2?
Will for sure try, I thought 2 frames were hard enough  but to be honest I've always enjoyed Tibia's 2 frame walk animations, the new "smooth-walking" is putting me off, but that's maybe just their execution of it

Tibia usually have A LOT of useless frames honestly. Check another 2d game for example, you don't need 8 frames to make something looking good and smooth at all ;)
