Hi,
I don't know if this is the correct subforum, so sorry about that.

I'm looking for 7.6 or 7.7 real map server files to set up "offline" server to play by myself (on windows). I don't want to build it from scratch or make it open for public use, i just want to run and be able to edit config to change lvl and skill gain and play (at least, i was able to back then). I had files many years ago (maybe 2010 or 2012?), but i no longer have that HDD. Do files like that still exist, or were they lost to time?

If your decently technical you shouldn't have trouble getting the 7.7 decompile project running, which for a personal private server would be a nice experience. You can even run it with the 'populated' map files, so you will see items left on the ground from players of old, and houses populated with items. Fusion32's instructions are pretty in depth, so just make sure to follow them and you should be fine. I've had success running them on WSL2 if your adamant in using a windows environment, otherwise I believe there are also resources in that thread for running it in docker.

I don't and won't ever try running distro. I'm not asking if there are modern versions, i'm asking of files that Clipsoft supplied themselves. So i take that

is a no.

Is overcomplicated distro the only thing that is left nowadays? What happened to ready-to-run server engines? I seriously can't see TFS as anything but a nightmare (just looking at the requirements makes me want to never look at Tibia again). Maybe you love to spend hours or even days setting up something to run on a nostalgia trip, but i don't. I don't want "C++ optimized perfect tool for ots making", just straight up bare-bones 2006-2010 caveman-tech files.

You are probably thinking about the xml servers.
You had the folder on your computer, ran the .exe and the server was up and running.
Everything was edited using .xml

I've got different xml servers on a usb stick that I refuse to plugin on my computer since I know that last time I scanned them they were bombarded with viruses
