Java allows for easy security errors. C++ has very good performance (importante when creating servers). I think C++ is a good language, even if it is way more difficult to write and understand.

I think that works. You just really need to limit the connections by IP in my opinion, most of these "DDOS" run those things from their machines. They do not have a "hive-mind" or something like that. If they do, you are pretty much screwed.

Normally just kids playing with HOIC and LOIC kind of programs. If someone actually does a proper DDOS attack on your server you must have pissed the wrong people. There are multiple programs that can protect you from that kind of stuff easily, no need to go around and go crazy on "defenses"...

Go to Sven and Tank in remere, click the NPC and change the Spawn Interval. Or go to your Spawn.xml file (in the world folder) and edit it there. It's the same.

Its definitly not "easy". You would need to create a table in your database that would store the ´cordinates of the hunting spot and then a storage so that you check if cordinates have been saved. Maybe there are easier ways but... I have no idea.
