You need better understanding of tibian refresh system here, cause it actually never was "daily" spawn.
There are tiles that are refreshable, and non-refreshable. Those refreshable tiles are refreshed on SS and several times during the day (depending on whether there are any players nearby). So it technically isn't "daily". Non-refreshable tiles are not refreshed at all, not even during SS. Those would only refresh when the new map was loaded (the so called "big map reset").
That being said, in pre-quest-system era, there were two types of quests: smaller, in which reward would respawn even a few times a day; and bigger, in which it would only respawn once every big map reset (usually once every few months).
(you can read the details about tibian refresh system here: Tibiantis (https://tibiantis.online/forum/viewtopic.php?id=83))
Good work with the map btw, I've almost forgotten already how different OF looked before 7.2.![]()
@al222
Great job! Can you upload here your updated version of the map?.
You can be the master of the project now![]()
Thanks for the clarification. Great article! But I still think we need some shorthand for discussion purposes, since most people are probably not familiar with how the refresh system works. And I can't really think of a better word to explain a process that happens at least once, but up to several times a day.
Thanks! I think it was much nicer before 7.2. But that's also when I spent the most time there, so I'm a bit biased.
Speaking of which... I'm pretty sure the second underground floor was implemented with 7.2 (the floor with the orc king, or whatever he's called). Does anyone remember this?
I'm also curious if there was as many ways down to the first underground floor. If you look at the 7.1 map, or the minimap of a 7.1 screenshot, you can only see one yellow dot per "tower" on the castle wall. But after 7.2, there was two; one up and one down. I'm wondering if there was only one way down before, the one by the entrance.

Thanks!
I can absolutely do that, but as I mentioned before, I've converted it to Nostalrius some time ago and have been doing the changes in the converted version, so it won't be compatible with anything else.
I considered working with the non-converted version and converting for each update I make. But the problem is that all ramps, depot switches, teleports, pick spots, keys etc use different UIDs/AIDs etc. so I would have to make those changes every time I made a new conversion, which would be too time consuming.
But I also realise that keeping two versions up to date like we've been doing is not great either. It takes me more time to show you the changes I made, than to actually do them.
Any suggestions on how to proceed? I would consider switching to another distro and redoing all changes, but I honestly don't think there's a better option out there. Especially since I want to use the original client. Open to ideas..
it is 7.7I've never heard of a distro called Nostalrius, is it 7.1? Or like most distros, 7.7?
it is 7.7
->made area south of Orc Fortress unreachable like the minimap
Nice work, will check it out!
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that area was very much reachable (edit: if this is what you're referring to):

One can only really trust the mini map for tiles that are only of one kind of ground, e.g. only grass. Tiles that border between two kinds, e.g. water and grass, may be walkable but shown as water on the mini map.
nice project! Maybe this could help you out? :Ok I managed to make the minimap exactly alike in that area without making it unreachable!
Do you have any good pixel map of 7.1 Rookgaard surface, without Rookgaard being written over it?
are you still around? I would love to see the old tibia.de forums. did you talk to the owners about, what happened?A tip is to use some Google tricks to find old pages. You can use search filters in Google search, like:
inurl: and site:
Like kay said, Photobuckets were very popular back then. But also angelfire and tripod.com
And if you search with quotes, you get more precise search results.
An example would be to find anything with name "tibia" on pages where "photobucket.com" appears.
"tibia" inurl:photobucket.com
Very few did however "tag" their pictures with "Tibia" specifically. Try world names, or names of characters. It can be old top players, or jsut any random.
Also, back then, the Tibia website allowed players to add their website to their character profile. I have found dozens of old pages by going through tibia.4players.de in the past and looking through online lists and checking their profiles for old websites. Also guild pages. There is plenty of old Tibia 2.0 to 7.5 footage out there just waiting to be discovered.
I'm also part (and one of the creators) of the largest old school Tibia Facebook group. I'd say 99% of all people in that group played Tibia in 1997-2002. Initially it was friends / invite only. But we have since opened up a bit more to the public.
It is called "Memory Lane". If you apply to that, I can accept your invitation. We have a few hundred members. Not so much photo sharing recently, but ask around. You will find many of Tibia's map creators and graphic artists there. All volunteers, none worked for CipSoft back then. In fact, CIP did not even exist back then. Most have many private albums and videos, dating back to 1997 even. That is very(!) rare stuff.
We created that group to keep in touch with friends and just chat. But you're all more than welcome to join and ask for some CAMs, videos, screenshots, etc. The founders of tibia.de is also in this group and they have the entire site backed up. It used to be a large .zip archive in the group with all files from tibia.de the day they shutdown, but it appears to be removed now. I'll ask them to upload that. It includes all forum posts, many of images too, etc.
