[8.6] EVO or Rookgaard OTS?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about starting a new OTS project. I’m doing this purely out of passion – not for profit, but for the joy of creating and playing together. My goal is to gather a small group of people who want to build something from scratch with me, share ideas, and shape the server as a team.

Right now, I’m torn between two directions, both planned on 8.6:

• OTS 8.6 EVO – I’m pretty sure this would attract some players, since EVO-style servers always have a community.
• Rookgaard OTS 8.6 – this one is more from the heart. I’m wondering if such a project makes sense nowadays and whether it could find its audience.

At the same time, I’m curious if maybe a different version than 8.6 would make more sense in today’s scene. I know 8.6 is the “classic” choice, but I’d love to hear if newer or older versions might be more appealing for players now.

So I’d love to hear your thoughts: should I go with the safer EVO route, take a chance on Rookgaard because it feels special, or consider switching to another version entirely? Any feedback or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

If evo ots then 8.60 or 10.98. Always fun to play and has a community ( Please mc block ofc )

if rookgard then 8.60 but without bot in my opinion. Hard to get a community with that
