A large issue that I have noticed is that there are too many different ots without enough players to fill them.
Its like there is 10% Players and 90% Ot's.
I would perhaps suggest that people stop trying to make independent projects which, more often than not, get very few players.
And why not combine some servers together? This would cut down on the overwhelming number of servers, and the player base for said severs will not be spread as thin.
Every server does have potential but if there are 1000 players and 10,000 Servers, most of the servers will have very few to no players by default.
Also, since the players are always spread out, some servers have such a small population, the players eventually quit the server from lack of competition.

The point I'm trying to make is this: we have plenty of mappers, scripters, programmers, web designers, and other unique talents,
but these talents are also being spread throughout the vast number of servers.. thus limiting most servers potential in general.
If, perhaps, 4 server owners decided to work on 1 Project the 4 people would get 4X more done per hour then a single person by them self.
Ultimately making updates on a server at a more suitable rate for the player base. If every server owner combined their efforts with 3 other like-minded individuals there would be 75% less Servers to choose from.
It's simply more efficient and sensible to make an effort to cut down on deserted servers to increase the average player base per active server.
All we need is to put some effort into cooperation.

A lot of servers have a unique quality or 2 that makes the server great, but what if 4 people with great ideas came together...
I hear alot of people complaining about lack of uniqueness in a sever.
For example, a quickly edited Revolutions map (not pointing anyone out or anything) is USUALLY comprised of people who can script but don't care for mapping or don't do it well.
So if someone like that instead attempted to provide their talents to a project already in the works it would make 1 more server that much better, while cutting down on empty space for players to fill.
If say... 1 person loves to map, another likes to script. Someone else likes to web design and add one more to work on sprites exclusively.
This 4 man team together could very well turn an Average Revolutions map based server into, perhaps, a custom map with awesome and unique features which has a beautiful site With custom sprites.\
Does that not sound better than an evolution map with altered exp rates?

Thank you for reading my concern and I hope that people at least give this idea a try.

Diffrent kinds of owners, some are just doing OTs for money, some are doing serious projects working for many hours to get it perfect.
Some people are motivated to work hard for something, some not.

And everyone got diffrent tastes, custom/realmap/oldschool (7.x and lower)/8.6 (to get alot of playeers, many of the players in 8.6 is botters).

You simply have to find a Team with similar goal as your own, And if its money the team is really after, simply make the donations split between the team evenly, regardless of what anyone says, teamwork is Always better. as long as you get along with your team, so simply find a team you get along with.

that's what people already do (or atleast try to). easier said than done

i have tried to pair up with Similar idealists like myself, The issue really Trust i guess... They figure that i was after there servers files/scripts SO why not an alternate plan?
Make the teams join up and make a smaller Project, people can devote a small time of their day to help on a new project with multiple teams, to see how it turns out. If the new project proves to show better result then the Singular servers, then devote full time tot he project. There are Many ways of going around many issues, just have to think outside the box.

I find working with a team more stressful. I tend to work alone on my servers. However.. I've never released one to the public.

Well to be honest I'm always up for a game if my take fails, I guess I will keep on trying until i combine my workarounds with someone else. Bigger the team more you have to manage and work and decision can't be taken by one person but by all of them or most of them or at least the highest contributors!

Most Scripters and Mappers and Developers have their own unique ideas and huge egos.
Putting those together causes a TON of issues because they all have their own way they like to do things.

The Gaming Community works off of a Free Market Society. The better your server is, generally, the more players you will get. Most of the servers that have no players, don't deserve them.

I can agree on that. I mean, everyone got different tastes. Some people like highrates, som lowrates. Some teleport servers and some rpg server. Many servers makes it easier to find what you are actually looking for, but as TS said, it can cause lack of players. But I don't see a problem with this. The problem is that most servers are more or less the same. Real Maps with the same events and sh*t. Nothing is unique and exciting about them.

But yeah, good servers will attract players if done correctly. Advertisement and of couse, what players want. Unfortunately the biggest player base are botters and prefer 8.6 real maps.
