Advice on Dedicated Server

Im hosting a ot server on my laptop and averages about 40 people a day and there is a waiting list. I want to buy a dedicated server or vps. If someone could tell me the difference between the two and maybe some sites please.

Vps is a comouter partitioned, many people use it. And a dedicated server is a server computer only used by you.
