Anyone is welcome to ask questions in this forum, and in the same vein, anyone is welcome to answer them! This isn't just for questions directed to the mods, and if you know the answer to any question that's been posted, please feel free to post an answer!

Any sort of hardware/software question is welcome to be asked *also anything about Technology, Computer related and Phones as well*
Ah! The wonders of modern technology. So don't be shy - ask away!

Are you managing to build up a new Computer?! you can ask here by putting your budget and I will get you the best deals and also telling you whether you should go for it or to wait a couple of weeks then the price might go down. (Whatever I answer you with, isn't an answer from one direction, I have many sources) I will tell you what I think about it, and whats reality.

Every day I will post the recent technology news, whether its computer related or phone related Tablets as well (Technology in General).

Today's recent:

HTC Holiday spotted running on AT&T LTE with 4.5-inch display

If you’re in the market for a new superphone soon and you want one that rides on AT&T’s speedy new LTE network, the previously-spotted HTC Holiday has been sighted once again. This time, it’s more than a Craigslist listing for a prototype with a broken screen — Engadget has scored a handful of photos and screenshots from the device.

The Holiday will feature a pocket-devouring 4.5-inch qHD touchscreen display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear-facing camera with dual LED flash, front facing 1.3MP camera, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and, like numerous other HTC models, four capacitive buttons for navigating Android.

Software-wise, the HTC Holiday features Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 (at least at this stage of the game) and HTC Sense 3.0, the company’s recently updated custom UI for Android.

That’s all that’s known for now — other vitals like battery capacity, thickness, and weight have yet to be called out. It’s also not known when exactly the Holiday will launch, but it is thought to be one of the first phones AT&T will put or for sale in its LTE markets. A name change may also be in the works: Engadget says there’s a good chance the phone will be re-badged as the HTC Waikiki.

Waikiki? Hey, sure — nothing reminds one of sun-drenched Hawaiian beaches, gorgeous, tanned women and crashing surf like a chunky, angular, gray-and-black smartphone.

Speaking of dual-core LTE phones, Verizon customers are still eagerly awaiting the Droid Bionic. More details are coming out every day, and we’re pretty sure that the handset will be available some time in September, but there is no definite date yet.

Thanks and enjoy yourselves!

At the IFA show in Berlin (September 2-7) LG Electronics is promising to have on display an interesting peripheral called LSM-100 which merges a laser mouse with a portable scanner to provide function at your fingertips.

Called LSM-100, the 2-in-1 mouse features an ergonomic design (BEd: we always hear that), is able to scan up to A3 pages, and makes use of Optical Character Recognition technology so as to convert scanned text into a document that can be easily edited. Scanned content can also be saved as PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF and XLS files for extra convenience.

LG is probably saving pricing and release details for IFA because it didn't mention such things as of yet.

Question 1:

How was my previous question unrelated to the thread?

It was a question and the topic of this thread is to ask any question you like and you or someone else will answer said question as best as they can

Should my first question be undeleted, question 1 can be disregarded.

Question 2:

I would like to build a computer with a $700 CAD Budget, what can you recommend for me?
It will be used to look up cooking recipes, play games (Battlefield 3, Dota 2, etc), browse the internet and render HD Videos

I will be purchasing from NCIX or Newegg

Thank you for your time.

Second question:

Antec Three Hundred ($60, Antec)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz Wolfdale ($165, Laptop, Desktop, Server and Embedded Processor Technology - Intel)
Visiontek Radeon HD 4850 ($185, VisionTek | AMD Graphics Partner)
Seagate 500GB Barracuda ($65, Hard Drives | Seagate)
MSI P45 Neo3 ($110, MSI Global - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more)
Samsung SH-S223F DVD Burner ($25, SAMSUNG)

Corsair 2x1GB DDR2 800 ($40, Corsair high performance DDR3 memory, 80 PLUS certified power supplies, SSDs, computer cases, CPU cooling, USB drives, and pc speakers and headsets)

Keep in mind the VGA Card is Direct x 10.1 support and not 11. but I still recommend it.

Are you even trying?

What about question 1?
Herp derp this is a question for a question which shall be answered, therefore cannot be delete or that would contradict your own thread topic

Question 1 wasn't a question, it would just turn this thread into a long discussion, and this thread aint for discussing, but for helping the people out to get them satisfied.

again, your question will just turn this thread into discussion, which I don't allow.

Ovi Store now powered by Nokia Drop, pushes apps directly to your Nokia device

One of the cool things about the Android Market on the web is that it pushes apps directly to your Android device instead of downloading it and then making you transfer it manually to the device. Nokia had a system on their Ovi Store where they would instead send an SMS to your phone with a link to download the app, but this wasn’t very convenient. So now they have Android Market style push support for sending apps directly to your phone, thanks to Nokia Drop.

This works similar to on Android phones. You go to the Ovi Store through your web browser, then click on an application and if it is a free app it is sent instantly to your phone and gets installed automatically. Alternatively if your phone is connected to your PC then the application is downloaded on to the PC and gets installed on the phone automatically.

Do you happen to know anything about binary convertions? like 00010110 = 22 ( that's how computer communicates and stuff) If you do, I have a question.. I have a homework assigment and I'm wayyy tooo lazzyyyyy to do all the math... I'm suppoused to spell out " My name is Andres and I am on Networking 1 " There's a table somewhere that says like 1 = A 2 = B and so on..

well, no I cannot help you with that, but others can reply to you if they know anything about it :p

but this what I managed to get you;

"My name is Andres and I am on Networking 1"

01001101 01111001 00100000 01101110 01100001 01101101 01100101 00100000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01000001 01101110 01100100 01110010 01100101 01110011 00100000 01100001 01101110 01100100 00100000 01001001 00100000 01100001 01101101 00100000 01101111 01101110 00100000 01001110 01100101 01110100 01110111 01101111 01110010 01101011 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 00110001

And here are few links that might be helpful;
Binary to Text (ASCII) Conversion

Thanks so much, that's exactly what I needed. You just saved me a good 30 minutes of headache while coding that shet

I wanted to know one thing, does it matter in the code whether the letter is written in Capital or not?

Since it's Networking 1 (Beginner class) no, but later if I go into more advanced classes, it will, this is how the keyboard and CPU communicate so indeed the capital matters because it could be like #200 = a and # 124 = A so it would completely change the set of numbers in the code, but for this assigment, no. Good question though

1800$ limit. Not planning to buy yet.
But still give me tips, I want a battlestation like SlurpDerp's.

Logitech Z623 2.1 Speaker System, THX-Certified ($131.99) or Logitech Z906 500 Watts 5.1 ($347.99)
_______________________

Total with the Z623; 1630$~ and with Z906; 1845$ - correct me If I calculated it wrong, since i've done it in my mind

Edit: I forgot to tell you, you'll buy as much fans as you want, so multiply the price of the fan to the numbers you're managing to get, I'd only recommend 3~

Another build;

CPU/Mobo: i7-930 and Asus P6X58D Premium $580

RAM: G.Skill Pi Series 3x2 GB 1600 mhz CAS Latency 7 $180

HDD: Seagate 7200.12 1 TB $90
PSU: Corsair 750W 80+ $100 after rebate

Optical: Cheap SATA DVD burner $23
HSF (if OC): Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus $35

Total: $1,793
