I mean, How often does OS X push a full Update, Linux(OS not the Kernel) has updates very frequently and has a full System update every like 6 months.

Any antivirus is going to slow down your computer because it needs to actively run to protect you and alert you. Anything you do on your computer uses your CPU and the most light weight antivirus may not protect you. Also the antivirus that uses the most CPU may not protect you the best because the programming may not be efficient. No viruses scanner can catch all the viruses out there and most antiviruses aren't compatible with each other. If you don't want to worry about viruses don't ever connect to the internet or install anything. Viruses are something we have to live with as the security measures against viruses gets better so do the viruses.

Avast Free Edition and AVG Free Edition.
They're pretty good, free, and well, you could upgrate them to get some bonus stuff.
