Chrome blocks downloading my OTClient ZIP – How to Fix?

I'm having an issue where Google Chrome blocks the download of my OTClient ZIP file. The archive contains:

otclient_dx.exe
otclient_gl.exe
data.zip (with encrypted files)

Chrome marks it as a potential security risk and prevents users from downloading it. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Add it to your Google Drive and place the download link on your website.

thxyou for help, however, it didn’t help much because now the user gets a message that the file is too large for Google to scan. Is there a way to bypass this so that clicking the link on the page downloads it immediately?

What otclient are you using?

I uploaded the files to MEGA (https://mega.nz/) and had no problems. But Chrome scans normally.

It worked for a few days, but today it’s blocking downloads on all my computers.

Time to sign your .exe

Im going to sign an exe file for first time. Can you recommend the best option?

Unfortunately, no clue what is the best option. All I know is that in the last few years, signing .exe is not as easy as it was before. Apparently they are sending physical device now (like a USB stick) that you have to use to sign the executable, it is no longer just cert files that you can download and use.

Signing also is not a 100% way to prevent this from happening as browsers can still control how they want to display the download.

Insecure pages can be reviewed by google for authorization, but haven't seen anything about binary validation by them.
Best way would be for you to make a simple launcher, that doesn't do anything crazy just downloads your client files and starts your exe.

You have more control over the launcher and it can be done in any language or whatever is recommended to avoid the virus check trigger. But not sure if using networking in your launcher wouldn't also cause issues, something that would need to be tested
