Actually.. the load difference you may experience by using a lot of opening/closing php tags and not are so ridiculously low that you would not even notice the difference.

EDIT: After having a quick look on your AAC, I would however like to recommend you to stop using short tags (<?) and start using the real tags (<?PHP) seeing as short tags are usually disabled by start with e.g. WAMP.
