Every year I have a urge to play on map editor like I used to do when I was a teen, and every year I just cant make it work so I will try to get support from some user because I cant find a good link (or im too stupid) to help me.
I had some RME on my computer so I start searching google and I downloaded this from this website:
OTAcademy fork of Remere's Map Editor repository. Contribute to OTAcademy/RME development by creating an account on GitHub.
github.com
RME 4.1.2 (Supported to 13.20 tibia verson)
I then downloaded Tibia 10.98, went to preferences on RME, I put Default Client Version 10.98, unchecked the Check file signatures, I went to 10.98, click browser, opened the Tibia 10.98 folder and selected.
And this error appears:
And when I try to open a map that I downloaded from otland mapping forum, this error appears (I used a 10.10 map as exemple, but if im using a 10.98 client it should have all the 10.10 sprites, right?
It has been many years since I want to do a rpg map for fun but I always stuck in something... can someone make me understand what is happening? it used to be simple back in the days, or perhaps weed have eaten my neurons
2. You said you're using default 10.98, no custom spr/dat, right? Go to preferences:
don't uncheck Check file signatures, let it be
default client version: 10.98
under 10.98 set path to your 10.98 client (or where the spr & dat file are, they need to be in the same folder!)
apply/ok
3. Create new, empty map (it will be 10.98):
go to file and click import, import map
browse your map (that 10.10 map)
hit ok
4. After successful importing your map will be 10.98, now you can save it as 10.98 and next time just open it, no need to import it everytime - or instaed of saving it as 10.98 you can downgrade it to 10.10 which i dont recomedn

Thank you, the RME is working, now I need to learn a few things more like convert new sprites in to the program because I was looking for new thing and isnt there I thought it was because the rme filess I downloaded is "supported to 13.20", but I guess I need to download the updated Tibia and convert in to .dat and .spr, right?
I will have a look in to that, there is many things I still have to learn, then I have to dedicate myself to go throw the learning curve and then have fun xD
First of all, sorry for making too many question but im doing my best to link all the information so make a better understanding about everything, 15 years ago there was way less information about mapping, so I decided to make this another post with ALOT of my questions so the answers may help other people that see the post too.
I will have the latest RME version working with the newest .spr and .dat Tibia version (15.0, monk update~) is that right? Besides the fact that the RME is working good and the extended1090 file (link above) is saying that is updated to 15.0 update, i have not found Monk equips on Raw > Others > in the middle of 50k sprites, perhaps I just have not found them, but is correct that this file contain the most recent update version of Tibia, right?
So I can understand: since always I have used RME I always had to deal with .spr and .dat files to get the sprites that I want, then update 11.0 happened and it changed all things work? they dont use .spr and .dat anymore? So canary enters on the scene right now, a project from a different forum focused on this new client (but from what I read, their project is focused on 13x+, but it doesnt matter here, right? what matters is that after 11.0+ the Tibia use different files), and since they use diferent files (not .spr and .dat anymore), they make a different RME that read those files? is that the only difference between those 2 different RMES that I listed?
So this new version when Cipsoft rework the Tibia (Client 11.0+) uses ClientID now? is what is called? And before that is ServerID? Im sorry for making so many question, but im just trying to link all informations together so I can have a better understanding.
So why is called ClientID on the new Tibia, and why is called ServerID on 10.98- versions (.spr and .dat files)? In this second RME is seems to be working frawless from the start, and I saw only one file there that may be correlated to the updated items, in data>items>items.otb, but I didnt saw any of this file on the most updated Tibia version from Cipsoft, so what is exacly the file that people take from Cipsoft files to update the new sprites?
Also Allynn is being very helpful and patience with me and was helping me to understand and making things work, he also sent me this file:
that have this explanation: It is the old client with dat and spr. So, is this really a Tibia 11.0+ or is just an updated .spr and .dat file? And from what versions really? because they didnt specify, I truly dont understand at all WHAT IS this Tibia 11.0, what is so different about him.
And about canary itself, from my understand is a project from a different forum that focus on 13x+ tibia version, but in popular talk, it seems that people say canary to ANY version above 10.98 tibia version?
So lets say I use the RME map editor 4.1.2 (latest oficial version), with the latest .spr and .dat release (Tibia 15.x+ sprites) (link above the next), and I want to sell the script or use the script to a canary server (above 11.x+) or lets say the real canary (?) project, 13.x+, can I simply convert the map using tools like this link I found?
Edit: Forgot another question, Allynn told me that this new 13x RME posted by Roberto was good because there was better pallets, more organized items on the column on the 13x+. There is no RME out there with recent sprites that is also organized? Because even the walls category seems very limited with just a few options of wall, if there is no other option, the only way it would go to Raw > Others and find the desired sprite in the middle of all other sprites, right? If I want to organize myself, all I would have to do is go to the folder where the .spr and .dat are, open those files Walls, Doodads, Borders, Creatures etc, and list there the id items? I opened a few of those files and this error appears:

So this is all my doubts at the moment, basically I want the most updated version of Tibia (sprites) to map, and the freedom to know that I can do whatever I can with the map, if it is to an old format(version) of Tibia, or to Canary (that like I said above, I doesnt understand if people refer to canary as tibia after 10.98 or to the Tibia project 13.x+)
