Is modernaac backward compatible?

Hi, im getting error "The character could not be loaded"
and im wondering if modernaac is backward compatible?
i downloaded the latest..

Modern AAC is for all TFS 0.3/0.4 based servers.
But it does not support 0.2

sounds like an issue with sample characters.
