Yh i used damascuss in ass creed for inspiration for desert city with assassin quests 0.o but the best sources would be open sandboxed games with the same theme as your server, whether it be these new styled *gta or zombies, or the classic medevial type. There are lots of games
like this, uncharted, lord of the rings (film also), fable, skryim, the list goes on

I don't like skyrim for inspiration due to alot of the world being open and flat. Ok the buildings and areas that are actually there are nice, but assassins creed seems to be better for me. IMO
