I recently got a NAS, and looked into whether it could handle a private OT server, was pleasantly surprised. Don't know anything about starting one, so had Gemini Pro help me. It has messed everything up lol

I've learned a lot about running the ubuntu server and all that, but I'm still having a ton of problems with finding the right engine, map, data packs, and client.

I originally wanted to go 8.6, as this is around my favorite era, but I'm willing to go forward a bit more, or back a bite more. I probably don't want to go before 7.72.

Can you experts please recommend the EASIEST path forward as far as version, and then if there is one repository with everything I need? I need a definite matching engine, map (looking for real map), data packs, and client.

Thank you to everyone for your time and expertise.

To add a little more to this, I have got 3 different versions up and running now, but all with various problems. First was not a real map (don't remember the map name), and had other issues. Second was not a real map (evolutions), and had other issues. Third was a modified real map (Angelion), but all the other stuff about it was not working: No NPCs loaded in. Couldn't eat food, or use ladders. No training monks in the training area. God commands weren't working for testing. Huge mess. Abandoned that.

Sounds more like you had bad datapacks and maps? This is an very easy fix, just get an 8.6 map from maps download here and start with an clean datapack? Then use remere to edit your map. I recommend this engine if you’re struggling with that GitHub - nekiro/TFS-1.5-Downgrades: Alternative forgottenserver versions for older protocols support (https://github.com/nekiro/TFS-1.5-Downgrades)

Yeah it is better to start with the default tfs to learn more how to compile first and how to solve all your problems later i suggest using it.

Hi, I've already learned how to compile. Learned a few things about changing the configs too. Just need a working map with matching datapack. Would you happen to have access to a set, or know anyone that does? Looking for anywhere between 7.6 and 8.6, but at least 8.1 would be preferred, and 8.4/8.6 preferred even more. I don't have the time to sit here and fix a ton of xml files and edit a map for 10s/100s of hours.

Y'all are telling me that out of everyone in this entire community, no one has a working real global map with spawns, NPCs, items, and quests?

I find it really hard to believe that this awesome, massive community exists, and that someone doesn't already have this. I've said it before (in other threads): I am willing to pay someone the price of a full game for this (IF I knew it was legit and what I'm looking for). I understand now that these things aren't just floating around for free. I know this would have taken someone a lot of time and effort. I just want someone serious to contact me, with what I want.

I really love old Tibia, and Project Fibula sparked that in me again, but I'm older and don't have time to fight over spawns. I just want to play some older Tibia, with my best friend, in our favorite era, on a private server.

If someone has this, and I know you're out there, please reach out to me. I just want a map, the data pack (with NPCs, spells, items, spawns, quests, and everything else), to know which engine I need to compile, and maybe the matching .spr and .dat files for the correct client. Please. I know someone out there has this. Please, be my knight in shining armor and make my dreams come true. I will pay!!!

Tbh I didn't find any TFS 1.5 global map around here what I just found is TFS 1.3 but it is ok to use it in your TFS 1.5 you will just need to edit some stuff like your libs folder that include some functions and your global.lua, you can even replace the core folder of TFS1.3 one with the TFS 1.5 only.
I did the same in a global map that uses TFS 1.3 and it works perfectly.

You might find some bugs or missing function calls but it is not that big deal. :)

I don't mind using TFS 1.3, that's fine. I just haven't found the matching set. Which update era of global map did you find? Can you do me a favor and link me to the global map and datapack you've found that work together with TFS 1.3? I would greatly appreciate it. :)
