Hi, Im new to Tibia in general, not just to Open Tibia.

Yesterday I played for about 3 or 4 hours and while I did like it, there were some things I didn't really enjoy. The Main thing being that upon death you seem to be losing everything, unless you have a "blessing". I ended up losing all the stuff I got and even when I went back to where I died, I couldn't find my stuff.
I can imagine that 99% of the people here would say it's not even a problem and Im sure to some extent it's meant to be this way. To die here and there. Considering I wanna have a more chill experience though, I was looking for beginner guides, to check if I might be missing things and I came across the fact that Open Tibia servers might be where it's at. That there are server with a focus on PvE and some even feature a system in which you don't lose your stuff on death.

Although the game is old and Im not here for nostalgic purposes, I kind of like the way the combat felt and I thought if Im better off playing on an Open Tibia server, I shouldn't invest more time into the official servers.

Sadly Im too new to really distinquish good, alright and bad servers. Sure I can check online numbers and how long the servers have been up, but the rest I can't judge.
That's why I decided to post about it on here and ask the community which servers you would recommend based on what I said above.

I see people use the game version numbers, because I assume veterans know the difference between version 8. and version 14. I don't really, other than knowing one is older than the other. If the version being higher means better QoL changes, I would obviously prefer that.

Im not entirely sure if you are just new to the forum or new to the game, but is there a server like that you could recommend?

If you enjoy Tibia's combat but dislike harsh death penalties, a PvE-focused Open Tibia server with custom QoL features could definitely provide a more relaxed and beginner-friendly experience.
My bad I forgot to directly reply, see my response above.

There are servers that have the "lose items" thing disabled. I dont know how exactly you can search them, but I guess some pokemon servers might have it? Altough then you're not playing the real tibia, but a heavily customized one.

If you are not interested in playing the global servers of tibia, you could start with more simple versions like 8.6 which is a fans favorite version. If you really wish for the modern version, you could search for high xp/loot rate servers as they have the harshness heavily reduced.

If you're looking for a relaxed PvE experience, Open Tibia is probably a better fit than the official game. Many OT servers reduce or completely remove death penalties, have higher experience rates, and are more beginner-friendly. I'd suggest trying a well-established server with an active community and a recent client version, since newer versions generally include better QoL features. Don't worry too much about version numbers at first the server's rules, stability, and community matter far more. Try a couple of popular servers and see which one matches the pace you're looking for.

Don't mind the AI bot replies on the forums, laddie.

I'm in your boat a little bit and have been playing around with server files, trying to make my own, something that I would really enjoy if I were to play it myself. However, then I came across Souls of Elysium | RPG (https://www.soerpg.com/) - new server opened not long ago, so the economy etc is still fresh. The death mechanic still exists and of course pvp, but I think you'd enjoy it. A lot of QOL, no pay2win overpowered items in the store (only QOL stuff). It's real map but with a lot of custom content, however, so well blended in it feels like it was always there.

And no, this is not a paid ad or anything of that sort - I've been struggling to find something I like, and then I randomly clicked a stream on twitch for this and saw Punio playing the server. I'm suprised and bit disappointed I didn't find it earlier lol.
