This is basically just like the problem with Limewire. It was illegal to download music, yet people still downloaded it. Yeah, we were doing something wrong when downloading the illegal music, but the owners are still to blame as well, because if there wasn't a Limewire, or music distributors, there wouldn't be a way to download illegal music. It's the same thing with OT owners. It's illegal to use cips client to log-in to ots, but yet you're hosting an ot for people to log-in. So while other people are breaking the rules when logging into servers with cips client, you're giving them a reason to break the rules by hosting the server.
Also I never said emulators were illegal. Re-read my post.
You have a point. There still remains the issue that I never told the users to break the law. It is up to them to decide their own means of logging in.
Open Tibia programmers have put forth a lot of work in order to make Open Tibia possible (So you can make more stupid maps.). I think the idea is that we made the server, they can make a client to play it on.
It is their responsibility to provide their own access tool, wether it be YATC, or if they want to break the law and use the CIPsoft client be it on their own head.
The topic of this thread is "is open tibia stolen software" the answer is a big fat bold, italic, capital, underlined "NO".
As far as the topic which you have taken upon yourself to start. "Is it illegal to play open tibia servers with the CIPsoft client" the answer is (as none of us besides you can find the logic to deny) is a big fat "YES".
So, if I host my server and someone finds a way to break the law on it, should i go to jail, or be fined? NO
In the United States a man is responsible for his own actions. Since I host a legal project, I am in no violation of the law.
Please, stop making yourself look more and more pathetic. At this point im trying to help you, you look like a fool. You must abandon this logic, don't defend it. There is no shame in learning.
Finally: The reason no one really gets prosecuted for downloading copyright material is because we probably wouldn't have paid 30$ for it anyway. This is REALLY REALLY the logic the companies have.
Charging someone for something they are trying to steal is pointless. You would just fine them, they wouldn't pay it, they would get a warrant, gotta pay cops to chase them, then put them in jail, feed them provide medical treatment, and pay welfare to their family when they lose their job.
There is a principle behind EVERY rule. Using a small amount of (good) logic, you can see it.
Seems like youre the kinda guy that becomes a cop so he can push the rules even if the principle is being obeyed.
