Hey there otland,
So a friend of mine, amazed by some footage I sent him and told him about Tibia/OpenTibia made him wanna play it himself. Now the question is where do I start to explain it to him? And where do I get him started (which type of server). Naturally as he tried to get started himself on an Evo I play he really was doing hard and I can understand that an Evo is not where you should start to learn Tibia. However, RealTibia is also too time consuming for him so I really dont know where to get him started right now? Maybe on a real ots or a custom server? Its just at an evo if he walks into a spawn never been intodruced to tibia controls etc he will most likely be kinda lost even if I am live explaining to him what to do.

Any ideas are appreciated,
Kind Regards,
Damon

cyntara.org got a decent ek, mage or royal paladin for him if he wants to play, I can also help him out. Private message me if interested:)

Thanks for your offer mate :) However its his first time playing Tibia/OT so it might be better for him to lvl up on his own. I might check out cyntara for him hehe but doesnt it have too mcuh customizing for a newcomer?

Dont make him play something custom, that will only make him actually think thats whats normal. It will be really confusing I would imagine.
I would say let him play evo or rl map. It doesnt really matter? It just takes time to get used to any new game especially without any tutorial. (maybe he should play the beginners tutorial on tibia.com?)
Im just more amazed that someone that have never played Tibia wants to try it out for the first time 2015. Usually they just look at it and say no, I would probably to if I didnt grew up playing it.

Not really, the monsters are just in your level. It's like being level 1600 against a wyrm which is at your strength. There is a beginner quest, might be good for him to learn a little there, though I had my new friend who started freshly and he didn't really know what to do, might suggest you help him out if you have time.

Real Tibia is quite boring in my opinion (at least as a start). He will be bored of it, I also wouldn't enjoy Tibia if I didn't have the pacc spells. He might be willing to pay for pacc and join an Optional Pvp as a start. Yeah, Optional PvP would be a great idea I guess :p

i like the idea of vtune about letting him play the tutorial on real tibia. I would not recommend an evo server because exp is too high and he'll be struggling to fight agaisnt higher mobs when things have to be done fast. let him try shadowcores maybe (for an rl server) or if you want to let him do something custom: ascalon open soon ;) and that would be an epic intro to tibia also ^^

No, shadowcores is not a good idea, too much power abusers for a starter. But yeah that's how it is anyways, I remember being killed all the times as low level so yeah.

I still remember how I started, I was a rookstayer, maybe he'll like that as a start? But back then there was a lot of players in rookgard (Askara), had a guild and I got to level 75. It's pretty fun

Well acctually I found that tutorial always boring but nonetheless will point it out to him :)
As for Evos I just think its hard to get into as a new player since everything eushes at you spawns are accessable by teleports and pks show up quite often. Shadowcores might really be a good start for him.
What he was amazed about was a quest video on the evo I made and I also showed him a POI video.
So he likes challenging quests I think he might also like exploring so maybe a real map is not bad to start for him since its custom for him anyway. On the other hand something as modified as Ascalon can cobfuse him but also show him what OTS can be like and amaze him. He likes good stories, good raids/quests (wow player) and farming items (path of exile) . He also likes playing challenging and acctually loosing equip or anything so I acctually think other than quests Evo server has nothing of the "typcial things" Tibia stands for.
I have not decided on anything yet so more input is appreciated :)

Just give him a level 100+ character on real Tibia and let him hunt trolls for start.
Then he'll eventually explore and hunt stronger things and get a good feel of the game.

I dont know if that is so smart. What if he goes to thais and decides to ue with pvp-red mode on :p

Real Tibia is always the best to start imo... If u start on ots, your view on the game will be fckd. Rates are too high, crazy ppl running around, bots helloooooo ...

Can try ascalon if it's online tomorrow. I heard it's pretty nice, custom tho

Ppl still want to start with tibia, man o man

I dont have a lvl 100 on rl anyways and I dont bot. My highest char irl was 30 btw.

Thanks mate but nope ^^ dont think this is the way to start ^^

Let him play Tibia with some high level character and hunt some easy monsters and explore around Thais.

Playing the real game is a good start.

Explain it like this:

Its a old as fuck game that the majority plays wile its setting up a program he paid for to play for him so that he does not have to play and get banned at some point.

And still people are enjoying it and playing it. There even is a Tibia private server forum called "Otland" were alot of people develope their own servers and have some fun :)

and like 40 forums called www.XXXBOT.com where people discuss bots more then the actual game c:
Well leaving aside those who make money with bots there are still enough people who seem to enjoy this game.
Wheter it is through playing manually like me and rpging, or wheter they enjoy the game by using bots to lvl their chars up feel babo and compete at the top. Because there would be no reason for them to pay for a bot or bot at all if they did not have fun by doing that to some extent, speaking of those who dont use bot to get rl cash now.
