About the Project -
I've messed with OT servers since 2007, and even had a couple decent servers. But I figured I'd finally work on a really awesome project that will last. Behold, TibiaZ! I've been playing a smaller version of this with my friends, and we've been having a lot of fun. So I figured I'd make some improvements and release it for everyone to play.

Most of the content is exploring cities, towns, forts, military bases and other areas to find better loot which increases your chance of survival. What you find is always based on where you go. Obviously military bases have better weapons, but probably more powerful zombies who used to be soldiers.

Survive Zombies (and hostile players who want your loot) by hiding, fighting and making allies with other players. Find food, weapons, bandages and other tools to help you stay alive. We also encourage role-play!

Interesting idea to implement into Tibia, pretty much Tibia's version of Dayz. Id definitely try it out :)

This sounds awesome, but I wanna ask if this will include a magical aspect (spells, wands, etc) or a modern aspect or something else entirely?
 
Sounds great! Do I get the option to play as a zombie too? Upon being killed by one or whatever :P

The spells will be changed a bit. I haven't decided. I know at the least there will be Haste (so you can run away from zombies better).
But it's not a fantasy-rpg. It's more realistic. So don't expect to be shooting energy beams around :)
GFB, and SD's might make an appearance. But as "Bombs", not magic.

Your MAIN form of combat is bows, spears and crossbows. You spend a lot of time going through the coastal cities finding basic supplies and ammo.
When you have enough supplies, and maybe some friends with you, you might brave going into bigger cities for better armor, weapons and better supplies.

There are swords and shields. You can use them. You probably won't want to until way later in the game.
Zombies are killable, but have enough HP to be annoying to kill.
But until you get (what I call) tier 3 armor, you probably will be torn to shreds if you let them catch you.

As of right now there are no vocations. At the moment (this is subject to change) when you leave the little tutorial island (which is about 10 minutes long) your character is boosted to level 30, and your skills are all set at 45.

Do I get the option to play as a zombie too? Upon being killed by one or whatever
No :p But that gives me an idea. Maybe have a quest that unlocks a "Zombie" on your account so they can play as a zombie!
Uh, I'll sticky note that!! If the server gets a decent amount of players, that would be a fun addition. :p

This project is a lot of fun to work on, AND play!
My lunch breaks I'm normally on with another friend trying make our characters stronger and testing out the features.
 
Why lvl 30? and not just make EQ to regulate speed or some other petty variable. Also will there be crafting, aiming and etc skills? :P
 
Had a similar server that could be played in our school network just, it was extremely fun. That was before DayZ/walking dead was shown so the ideas i had back then was pretty poor.

You will be able to make tools in the game to help. Potions, Fishing rods, Bombs, etc..

So... What if you get killed?
Your corpse will turn into a zombie. This Zombie will hold all your corpses loot.
You will drop everything you were holding and your armor and spawn with the starter gear.
You can go kill your zombie self and get your loot back, or start over.

It's an unforgiving world.
You must survive against players AND zombies while conserving ammo and precious bandages/food.
However, you need players help to get into harder cities to get better loot.
So you have to choose who you trust wisely.

As far as depots and houses go, I'm not sure about adding them into the game yet.
Seems to defeat the purpose of survival.

It's a very interesting game. Like I said, I have fun playing by myself. I know it'll be even better with more players.
The game is pretty much done - I just need to finish the map and maybe tweak some stuff.

Again would love help on this project - Mainly for map making and people familiar with Zombie games to bounce additional ideas off of and beta test :)

I've been up most of the night mapping. I'm pretty anxious to get it up and running. :)

Right now I have it on 8.6. I might up it to something else, but I might not. There's nothing to really 'bot'.
Zombies do not yield xp, or gold. Combat is mainly distance. Mana will probably end up being a thirst meter in the future.
So I can't think of what botters could possibly do that would benefit them much :P

instead of houses, you could make a 'camp' system, if you will. perhaps a player could set up a tent (already have sprites for this) and a certain amount of tiles around it will act as house tiles (but still be non-pz ofcourse). that way items on these tiles won't disappear with a clean/server save, but you're still vulnerable to other players taking your things if you leave them out unattended.

another idea is to make doors breakable .. that is if you're inside a building with the door closed, zombies will gather on the squares outside of the door and 'break' into it if you're inside (door should just open after a period of time and unable to close for a bit). the more zombies there are, the faster the door will break. opens up the possibility to create 'reinforced doors' that will last much longer.

also, if you go with 8.6 people will use elfbot, and with elfbot comes speed hack so ..

yeah it's called dash, one of elfbot's most notorious feature xD

also you should edit day/night cycles .. make day time last a bit shorter and also have it be a bit darker than normal. if possible i think it'd be best to disable ambient light in the client as well. since you said you're going for 'realism' i believe, i would remove all light spells and have a variety of torches (brighter, last longer, etc.). light should be an important aspect of the gameplay, as it was to a lesser extent on oldschool tibia

My point exactly... Don't get me wrong, I do use elfbot every chance I get but I feel it would be OP in a server like this for some to have it and others do not.

Also there is magebot. I do currently own a key for it and some of the versions date back all the way to 8.0 and are up to 10.37. I must note the speed hack is much less effective than elfbots so I would just consider updating to the latest version.
