I like smf because it's free and you can install mods very fast on your forum.
and invision and vbulletin you must pay for it...

phpBB2 is a nice free forum, basically has the features of Vbulletin as well as an easy plug-in system for choosing new layouts.

But, some people say that they can hack phpbb easy and if you install a mod that isn't validated you may have security problems with your forum.

It depends on what's gonna be on it. If there's gonna be a lot of users and topics, I'd pick React.

I've seen it running with over one million topics..

You wont need alot of mods with phpbb3

It has a big community
It's easy to edit stuff
And there are many styles
