I was hoping maybe one of the few people who played this server is active on Otland and knows what happened to it.

It was called "The Legend of Muu". It was a very slow-paced server with a meager amount of players. I remember the owners saying it would be around for a long time. Then maybe 1 - 1.5 years ago, the server went down abruptly and never returned. It's weird as the owners tended to be very reliable and the server was up for many years.

What was the difference between this server and the MuOnline mmorpg game?

I know very little about MuOnline MMORPG since I have never played it, but I would say this server had nothing to do with it. It was more about the custom sprites (monsters, items, outfits, etc.) and a huge custom map to explore.

It almost felt like it delivered an experience you don't see on many servers. The main issue was the low exp rate (I'm a casual) but it makes sense for a server of its caliber.

Not sure either but it was one of the best servers I've played, coming from a low rate enjoyer. Hope the developers hear this, I would absolutely pay to play again.

Weird how ive never seen this, and I only play custom servers like these. Do you maybe have more information about it? When it was launched etc?

This server was visible at otservlist, I tried to connect to it but I don't remember why I couldn't do it though.

What was your name? I didn't think I'd actually reach someone who played on there since there was only a few active players back when I played. I was hoping one of the higher-level players had some form of contact with the owner.

I only play custom servers as well. There are many servers that are never advertised on Otland. The technique is to search otservlist for servers with n/a client since it's often a custom server with a custom client. That and I also check every server that has 1-15 players because sometimes I'll find a low-key custom server.

I don't have a ton of information since I never got far (exp rate was hardcore slow). This was the main reason I quit as I didn't have the time to invest. Then a year later I had an itch to play it and explore all of the custom content it offered since it's rare to find servers like this. It was more of an old school custom server vs. the custom that we have today. It didn't have the typical flashy dopamine hit features. It was slow, you need to collect all gold coins, money wasn't easy (you couldn't just buy potions and make profit each time) at least at my level. It was fun to explore the map. I would find some random mini bosses in some spawns. I know one area I explored needed a key to go further and I ended up finding the key hidden somewhere near the spawn. Regen was slow. No trainers but there was a cool person who leveled an alt druid to summon a monk for people to train on.

From the little that I explored, it looked like a fully custom map (no edited or downloaded maps). He added a basic upgrade system. I think you could upgrade the attack/defense of equipment by a few points, so nothing fancy. I don't think there was custom equipment (I wish there was) but when I saw this patch, it made me want to play and explore everything he added.

"Two new continents, hundreds of new custom creature sprites and edits. Hundreds of new creature products. Additional runes and spells, new outfits."

I don't want to hype the server up as I only got to level 20 something. It could be an effect that since the server is now gone, it makes me miss it more than I really do. I believe the server came out in 2018 and was up until some point in 2023. I remembering asking the owner if it was worth me investing my time on there with how slow it is and that I didn't want to lose my progress, and he assured me that the sever would be up for a long time. I mean 2018 - 2023 is already quite impressive for an OT so they were trustworthy for sure. Makes me all the curious on what happened for it to finally go down. No form of donation as far as I'm aware. There was never even an option for anything of the sort on the website.

Correct it was only on otservlist as far as I know. I'm not sure why you weren't able to connect.
