EternumOT Mapper/Designer
PurePvP was a server I played when I first got into OT servers. As the name suggests, it was constant fighting for spawns and warring between groups of people. The main draw was that even though the map looked like an RL map, the monsters were different and the loot was mysterious. You could hunt a specific monster for days and not get anything so you think they don't drop anything, then suddenly you loot a mana rune that heals you 3x as much as the one you had previously, and it was infinite. People guarded secrets of what monsters dropped what and it changed PvP because being able to grind in those areas uninterrupted meant that it increased your odds of getting stronger gear.
The loop was
Hunt a spawn -> Find a cool drop -> Use that drop to surprise your opponents -> Level up from killing your enemies and from grinding
Additionally, money was very important for blessings and things didn't drop lots of it. So if you got caught without blessing and dropped an item you looted after grinding for a week, it really set you back.
I think I played that server for close to a year. I still talk to the people I met on that server over 15 years ago.
