are you sure? the drop ping request is that some is trying to ping but the router is not allowing it right?

you're just being scanned by some douchebag hackers around the world, looking for vulnerabilities in your network.
if you've got a router though, it should protect them from getting to your computer.

I would recommend a NETGEAR or CISCO/Linksys router.

Well, Cisco/Linksys is based in the United States, and have better quality products. Netgear routers are also manufactured in the US.
DLink is china owned, and they're products are generally made really cheaply.

NETGEAR WNR2000 RangeMax Wireless-N is a decent wireless router.

Much better than option #2 made in china.
