So throughout this whole year my logitech mouse [not wireless] hasn't been working properly, at random times it would stop working for a minute or 2, and sometimes I have to replug it for it to start working, it get's stuck mostly while playing games, I've tried installing the mouse drives but nothing, I also switched my mouse with ym dad's laptop mouse and it never froze, nor did my mouse on his pc, so it's between my pc and mouse, any ideas ? [windows xp]

it's some driver bug in your computer most likely.

tell me, is it completely random, or does it happens with X minutes/hours delay?

I'm not sure right now, but it sounds like a unique driver error.
Etc, when one type of action happens, the driver can't load correctly, causing the entire thing into a freeze-loop that ends after a while.

Like you said, mostly when you're playing games, which would be the chance you'd execute this action with errors in it, would be a lot bigger than if you'd just going through internet.
if I were you, I'd completely uninstall all the mouse drivers, and reinstall them.

Also, I'd expect this thing to happen again, trying to figure out what's causing this problem.
So next time it happens, don't be surprised, start to think exactly what moves you did with the mouse 5 seconds before the bug and until it happened.

try that for now, if problems keep coming, write again, or PM me if I'm a slow replier

Yeah it's the drivers or the cables on the inside of the mouse are getting messed up.
Not wires, if it works perfectly on another computer it's not wires.
it's 100% software based issue here

if its the cable, then why does it work perfectly fine on other computers? :/ and if its the drivers, I already tried reinstalling them :S

It's not the wires, I can tell you that.

you said logitec, do you use their install disc/files?

hm no, what I did was remove the driver, turn off my pc, turn it back on and plug in the mouse

That's not exactly the way to reinstall.. but w.e

if you haven't installed logitec's softwares, try that.
The mouse/Keyboard should have a cd included.
Install that, it would be the best as that software is made to fit the mouse/keyboard.

my keyboard isn't logitech and was bought like 3 years ago, my mouse is like 1.5 years old, and didn't come with cd :s

Just got done talking with my instructor, he said that it could be various things from threading to memory leakage and other stuff. He also wanted me to ask you what kind of computer is it? HP, Dell, etc. because they have diagnostic tools and if they don't to run some diagnostic tools. He also said to take a look at your processes to see what applications are running because it has to be something internal that is messing with it.

It's dell and here's my processes

He said get some diagnostics tools and run them. (look in google for hanging mouse diagnostic tools should work.)

can't atm, later though, ty for the help and tell your instructor I appreciate his help :)

Ok, how many other devices do you have plugged in other than your keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers (if you have one)?

internet cable is attached to pc, and that's about it, everything you said..

Me and my instructor both think that as the last prob that we can think of is the input output serial, make sure nothing is using the same number as the mouse. After that me and him are out of ideas.
