posting for the heck of it, hope it spread long story short: I've always used YouTube to mp3 Converter to download mp3 from youtube, so today I was about to download and got it:

So maybe you guys can help us out

video2mp3.org or smthing like this is exactly the same, just use that one because youtube will never allow recording tools

In the meantime, I recommend using:
JDownloader.org - Official Homepage

JDownloader is a free, open-source download management tool with a huge community of developers that makes downloading as easy and fast as it should be. Users can start, stop or pause downloads, set bandwith limitations, auto-extract archives and much more. It's an easy-to-extend framework that can save hours of your valuable time every day!

And FFmpeg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FFmpeg) for any codec/container conversion not supported by JDownloader. You can download the YT videos through FFmpeg as well, but it's a bit 'harder'.
(FFmpeg is awesome, btw. Definitely worth looking into if you're interested in video/audio/streaming stuff.)
