7.4 custom server.

Hiya.

Guess you're bored to see me again, all over the forums with new servers that never gets done. I understand, however. This is going to get finished, no doubt in my mind. This server is kind of a new thing for me and my friend.

We'd love to get some ideas and what we can add to it. We haven't really made any concept of the server, we've started on the map though, so we have already begun a city, but we're far from done. It won't be long until it's hosted. So make some suggestions to us.

But make it 7.72 with 7.4 sources. Since 7.4 protocol supports DirectX5, whilst 95 % of the new computers do not support that version, meaning low FPS+ lags and that affects the game play majorly.

What? I was hinting at what he shouldn't do.

The thing about 7.4 is, it's a nostalgia version with good pvp for added bonus, the server would have to be either a low rate, or a midrate (10x) no teleports, decent towns, decent spawns.
The only real way to get this effect easy & fast is to just run a Rlmap, because i think 7.4s main attraction is it's Pvp/Combat system along with the nostalgia feel.
It isn't like 8.6+ where everything has to be changed in an "attempt" to make what is seriously boring, better.

Ontop of that, no one seems to care for RPG servers, i know ya'll like to think RPG rockz & shiz, which i'd somewhat agree too, but no one plays them when they're released lol, & if people do (Kingdoms) people either lose interest or the owners for some odd reason just decides to give up. Probably because no one wants to continusely maintain something.

Well, with a well worked on map.. good features which resemble to 7.4, some nice hard-working quests DO get players. Maybe not on the higher versions, but I've played a heck a lot of old school custom servers which gained over 300 players. It just is the matter of time you choose to open the server, where the community is at (like at the moment, old school community quit tibianic doing nothing most likely) and your features.

Times like now with good advertising would get brilliant amount of players. But I'm not saying you should open it now, as your project isn't finished I'm assuming; but these are the critical times a server should be opened and would most likely be successful.

A good feature COULD be a war system maybe? Loads of old-schoolers' do enjoy servers with war-systems.

There are still lots of people using windows XP since Win7 costs a fortune and not everyone are pirates.

95%? My computer is fairly new and is using Windows 7 and have all features that most of the "problem-with-fps-players" have and all that. I heard something about editing some settings in your GPU could do wonder.
