Using Flash Client in Ots

I have been watching this thread from beginning, but i don't contribute anything because this is beyond my understanding. (gona take quite good months before i start learning Clients)

Although if you get that flash player work and share it with OTLanders, then i definitely will be using this for my custom server too.

Too... Not everyone can do what you want Mokerhamer, the about the 90% of the people what follows the thread doesn't know how to help...

I don't think he means this in particular, what i think he ment was to people who actually contributes overall. Not to sound big headed or like a douch, but leechers shouldn't be encouraged. Sure i can share this and that, but this is actually quite a big thing as of now, so it should only be awarded to those who deserve it, people who would do the same thing in return. But that's just my opinion.

I totally feel the same way, same goes for all the things I do.
I don't mind people that people get it aslong as they spend time on the servers, in most of these cases they just download a server change the map abit, setup donations and call it a day.
This should in my opinion not be released for that reason.

About the experience in flash, this is completely true. This is my first time ever decompiling a flash file, first time ever in actionscript 3. (tbh i did small actionscripts for movies in like flash 8 a hundred years ago). This was for me 100% experimental and it worked out for the best. You don't need a lot of experience to play around with these things, you just need to be interested and just be willing to give it a go. In my opinion it's the willingness that counts not the result. If you're willing to share whatever small stuff you can, then you deserve to be rewarded.

This is why I didn't release anything, good to see you guys got there on your own. Even if some of you did use my swf :p
Good job guys, next is config saving and spell & rune hotkeys :)

Trust me on this, I do understand why you diden't release anything.
But would not have minded some hints atleast :)

Can anyone tell me the advantage of using the flash client? Please don't tell me because is not that ugly as the default one...

Should I tell you or not? haha

The main thing I guess is that you don't have to download it.
And some seem to prefer flash clients over stand alone clients.

The reason I wanted this is to have more things to offer, only way to stand out from all the download and run servers.

You get the same Window you get when you open your Client imo.
So there is no difference visually.

Only difference should be that. User does not install Client.
 
What about getting sued by CipSoft for hosting their copyrighted client in a private server ( this could be a critical thing if your server have a lot of players ) ?
Anyways this could be awesome for a Global Server, keep up guys !

Tbh if they wanted to go after OTs they would most likely start with Marks servers, shadowcores is still today one of the biggest servers out there.
Lets just say if they wanted to sue OTs they would have done it a long time ago.
If we notice shadowcores going down we know we have to back off :)

The real problem is how hard will be for they shot down any server.
Is really expensive do a process and this cost a lot of money, but this could be a easy thing if you made some mistakes like using a copyrighted trademark ( like Tibia or CipSoft ) or using their copyrighted files ( the client by itself and not the files ), this could be a lot sheaper and for sure if one server have a nice amount of player this could be a easy target.
Anyways i think this is really hard to happens since they are alive because of OpenTibia and this is really good for their game, but this is a thing for think and maybe could happens.

Well (most likely) the spirits, alot of the names etc are copyrighted.
Ex. tibia got into trouble by some other game with the monster Beholder and had to rename them to Bonelord: http://tibia.wikia.com/wiki/Bonelord/History

Then don't make server with 10000+ players when you use CipSoft copyrighted files.

We're working on it :p, This was mine first experience to with decompiling. I've been using over 7 compilers but i still dident succeed in rebuilding it. Mind sharing how you managed to decompile and recompile it? an application name would help :p i mean this for further updates of flash client.

Are you already tried Adobe Flash Pro ? I think that is the best for this task.

It seems like it's not a flash project but a flex project. Installing flex builder atm to try it out, wish me luck.
 
It's indead a Flex Project with a so called Preloader. I'm working on a decompiling/compiling project to for further updates of the official Flash.
Besides that we're working on Hotkeys & Options saving. After completing the project i'll talk with the contributors about what we're going to do with the project.
It's a decission of the people who contributed to make it working :)
