I love the server. It combines some sort of evo feeling with rpg aspect etc. Enough asslicking now :D

I am missing some stuff in your server! How about more rpg'ish aspects? Lumberjacking smithery (actually smithing not just st00pid ores) with some sort of anti bot security or smth :)

Could get you some passive income or items or special stuff! I mean progressing the server towards bigger endgame is fun but I feel like the midgame is long and theres nothing to do but search for ubers really. Pls dont take this as offense and feel free to pm me for ideas :) !! big fan

open up spell descriptions? where you say how much %dmg in the formulas stuff does so people can actually play arround combinations like in diablo for example where u know how much dmg smth does before u play it etc haha maybe also stuff like what it profits most from etc like flicker from weps etc

Orb System Review/Rework

So first off an explanation behind this update.

We originally implemented the orb system to give benefits to manual players. As usual, clever players are always trying to beat the system.
Due to this we have had to start using orbs in everything to prevent mass mcing and to make these orbs better and harder to bot so that people who want to actually play the game can keep up.
After taking a step back and looking at the server, I noticed that because of this it has actually become quite tedious to manually play. Being interrupted constantly while hunting to pick up orbs can be fun and interesting at first but does eventually get old.

Yesterday I implemented a new type of orb system to ubers as a test. The purpose is to streamline the system, make it interrupt gameplay less often, preserve the excitement factor you get when finding loot, but still retain the anti-bot functionality.

After reading some feedback in-game it appears people really like these new orbs and so today I present you all with a completely new and revamped orb system.


So what's new?

All orbs have an unstable phase where the player must attempt to control the orb. Once the orb is under control, the player may start to siphon rewards from it.
Note:
  • Premium increases the siphon speed by 50%.
  • Achievments related to orbs have been adjusted to fit the new system.
  • Looking (shift+click) at an orb that is "stuck" will attempt to unstuck the orb.

In general all orbs will function the same way. You will siphon rewards over time from 1 large orb rather than having to pick up a ton of individual orbs.


How does it work?

To make explaining easier there are 2 types of orbs.
  • Personal: This orb spawns for an individual player. It cannot be seen by anyone but the player it was spawned for. It cannot be siphoned by anyone but the player it was spawned for.
  • FFA (Free For All): Everyone nearby can see this orb. Multiple players may siphon rewards from it at the same time.

So finally, here is a list of changes:
  • Uber monsters will now drop all of their loot into 1 single orb. These orbs are FFA and last a long time before they expire.
  • Treasure Chests work the same as uber monsters but do not last as long before they expire, they are also FFA.
  • Generic experience/gold orbs are now much more more rare than they used to be. Proportionally they still give the same bonus over time but interrupt gameplay far less often. For example, an orb that used to give 100 exp will now give 1000 exp total. These orbs are PERSONAL.
  • Generic loot orbs are similar to experience/gold but rather than their reward scaling proportionally, they have received a bit of a buff (roughly 50% extra). They are also PERSONAL.
  • No change has been made to the way map orbs function. They are still PERSONAL.
  • Loot from Map/Key bosses will merge into 1 single orb if they are killed quickly. These orbs are FFA.
  • Mining has been completely redone. After taking some time to look at the mining system I realized that it has to be the most tedious and boring thing possible, which is probably why people want to bot it so badly.
    For this reason I have completely overhauled the concept the mining. The rocks now have an extremely long respawn time making them a valuable resource.
    Each rock you mine will produce far more ore than ever before. The mining perk will greatly increase that amount further, and the Bad Ass Pick will increase that even further.
    The idea here is that players shouldn't feel like they have to sit for 5 hours clicking a stupid rock. We want the time spent mining to be less about clicking and more about searching/fighting over the resource instead.
    These orbs are FFA.

Although I like some of the changes, some people have bipassed your orb system and are able to see the colorful text, many of us have seen this in action.

Although you have increased the mining time, people will still bot this area, everyone and their mother requests a mining script in game chat almost everyday, I doubt no one ever mined because it was boring, they bot mined because they can.

Spawning the keys where you are in-game shouldn't be allowed near shops or low level areas, two people yesterday were spawning arch tit golems near the t1 traders killing low level players.

Also about pking, shouldn't there be some restrictions set that some level 8k rb shouldn't be able to kill some non-rb under 500 in a non-hunting area, its different if you are out in the world exploring but if you are say at traders in edrona and some asshat because he is bored decides to kill you.

And whats a guy gotta do to get a free 9/14 set around here... aside from working for it :p

Every time I get that complaint I investigate the person. I have never once found a person doing what you claim is being done. In the event that I do find someone cheating in this way, every character they have ever logged into will be deleted immediately.

Yes. That person gains a frag for killing, the victim loses absolutely nothing and receives a free teleport to temple. Eventually the killer will get a black skull.

Might be hard to believe but yes there are people who have bi-passed your orb system, I see you and @Synthetic_ online in the temple all the time but I hardly ever see you in the game, sometimes you appear in game chat, but when anything is addressed to you which is game related you tend to ignore it.

I would tell a senior tutor of these issues if they actually cared, but sadly they don't & it seems like you don't care either.

But whatever... you want to act like what you build is impenetrable be my guest, but i know otherwise and sadly others do as well.

I don't really understand this comment. I am sorry if it appears I am afk most of the time, the truth is I am afk most of the time. There is a wonderful thing called a private message which stays on your screen as long as you are online. I can review these private messages and respond as I see fit when I return to my computer.

But whatever... you want to act like what you build is impenetrable be my guest, but i know otherwise and sadly others do as well.
I am not acting like anything. I am telling you that I have multiple reports every day that I check out and none of them have been true. Sorry if I do not announce my every move such as "Hello everyone I am no longer afk and now investigating player >insert name here< to see if he is cheating..."

I am not going to tell you or anybody else how or when I do what I do. I am not forcing you to agree and/or like how I do it. Just know that I am doing what I can and that is the best that I can offer. If you don't like it then I am sorry to disappoint but if I am honest, I really don't care about your opinion of me. But don't you dare sit there and say I do nothing.

I can see you don't care, you don't even have to say it. I don't know what this attitude is all about, your not better than me just as I am not better than you.

This means very little but I will say it anyway: I or anyone else that gives you feedback about your server can play any server we want but we choose to play yours..

The difference between me and the rest of your "players" is just as you are an asshole to us at times (like right now) I'll be one too, I'll rebuild every aspect of your server and release it to everyone here on otland so this 'unique' style of gameplay will not be so unique anymore...

The only place you are god is on your server... don't act like you are god here.. if this sounds like a threat it isn't...
