Tibia 11 - End of botting era?

What exactly are you getting at?
You're complaining that Open Tibia server developers are "mimicking" Tibia with their work in one post, and yet in another post you write this?

Open Tibia is, and always will be, based off CipSoft's Tibia in one way or another.
Even if you look at some of the most heavily-edited Open Tibia servers, such as Zezenia Online or Necronia (both which, don't identify with "Tibia") you will see elements and fragments of Open Tibia, which were of course derived from the original work of CipSoft's Tibia.

This community is not based on an "obsession" with mimicking Tibia. This community is based on the idea that individuals (such as you and I) would be able to take a piece of open-source software (such as TFS) and replicate a semi-popular European MMORPG (Tibia) on our own. This community is based on users creating "Open Tibia" servers based on this said software, to try to create unique entertainment for an audience that presents content that they would never find in "Global Tibia." We use the original product as a base, and take it in a direction that the original product's company would never fathom taking it. This is a huge reason why you see many things in Open Tibia that CipSoft has yet to add to their servers, or is still unable to.

Please don't confuse our Open Tibia community with the 8.6 real map pizza servers you see on otservlist.

I'm sorry but my point must have been misunderstood. First let me just say i'm not talking about the OT or OTland community, but instead more directly to the people here that gets excited over the idea of once again creating a copy of a "new" Tibia. I mean, the programming and scripting is not the same on Tibia as TFS, right?

"This community is based on users creating "Open Tibia" servers based on this said software, to try to create unique entertainment for an audience that presents content that they would never find in "Global Tibia.""

Ofcourse, but why must the TFS copy the original Tibia? Why not for example focus on creating more mapping content or monsters and such(as open and free "software" for all developers) instead of trying to copy the new "features" they come up with all the time? I mean, what's the point in copying 100% when 100% of the original is not "good". Like the depots now for example. Why would a TFS-developer or any OT developer try and create the same thing where every depot contains 10-15 different depots(from all different cities)? This is a good example as it is basically CIP tripping on their own feet. They created a city-based depot-system that eventually sucked because there's too many cities. The obvious solution/evolution is to have only 1 depot, but instead they put all cities depots into all of them... crazy, no? :p Will TFS for 11.0 do the same?

"You're complaining that Open Tibia server developers are "mimicking" Tibia with their work in one post, and yet in another post you write this?"

That makes 100% sense, no? How can you create something "without CIPs envolvement" if CIP is the creator of the content you're constantly updating/copying? It's impossible, yes? I'm complaining/asking/arguing for why the TFS/OT developers try and mimick original Tibia(the newer versions) when it's obviously flawed in many, many players eyes. Why not branch off and call TFS/OT/'OTlands most used platforms' something new and original? This way it would be a lot easier for the developers of TFS to for example sell/rent out their work/finished TFS-versions to people who want to host a server aswell right?

This would make developers of open source content getting a piece of the profit that hosters earn hosting/scamming( :p ) players, right? And thus greatly boost the evolution/development of OT in general.. and Tibia aswell if they adapted to compete for the players with OT-servers.

What are you on about?
There are loads of maps, monsters, features what don't exist in tibia and TFS and RME are perfect tools to create them.
Why you get so uptight about copying the idea of tibia? Maybe someone just likes it.
Like I said lot of ppl simply want to play tibia without CIP >>direct<< involvement. (just had to be more clear I guess >.>)

I always hoped that Tibia will be bot free, but I don't hope this will result in a downfall of players.

Well, This "Bot free" few months or a year, Will result in plenty of more OT players... Just saying

Hello!
Today in tibia.com a news about new stand-alone client got published.

letter_martel_A.gif
new version of the stand-alone client is on the horizon, Tibians!

login_screen_beta_small.png
Client version 11.0 comes along with a redesigned login screen and a launcher to improve the installation and updating process of the stand-alone client. Most importantly, though, Tibia 11 has received a massive overhaul below the surface. We have completely revamped the technical side of the client to make Tibia fit for the future.

Tibia's long development history has left quite a few marks on the code of the current stand-alone client. Its age is evident through numerous technical limitations that weigh heavily on its maintainability and flexibility. Therefore, we started working on a new version of the stand-alone client that enables us to go beyond the currently existing restrictions as we continue to develop Tibia further.

So far, we have focused on Tibia 11's performance during development since we know that a stable and reliable client is crucial for players. This is also the reason why the new version of the stand-alone client pretty much looks and feels like the current version for now - a look and feel that you are familiar with and that some of you have grown to love as we learned back when the Tibia Flash client was released. Before starting to work on new client features or UI improvements, for example, we want to make sure that most of you are satisfied with this version of the stand-alone client in terms of reliability and performance.

Therefore, we are going to have an extensive Beta phase to gather data and feedback that helps us to make sure client version 11 is ready for release.
A closed Beta test has started today during which a group of randomly selected players can try out the new client version for some time. We plan to run further Beta tests with other groups of randomly selected players later on. Players who have been selected for a closed Beta test receive an email invitation on their registered Tibia email address with further instructions.
Of course, we will open the Beta to everyone eventually so all of you will get the chance to experience and test the new client version before its official release.

We have set up a specific board where invited Beta testers can give us feedback about their experiences during the Beta. All players can read this board. You can also find a dedicated FAQ there which summarises important bits and pieces about Tibia 11 and the Beta. It may be a lot of information to take in but it can help to answer commonly asked questions so please make sure to read it thoroughly!

Last but not least, please keep in mind that Beta means that things may not work smoothly yet and are subject to change. As usual during test runs, glitches and bugs are to be expected. That is the reason why we are running this Beta - to find and squash bugs and to optimise the new client version performance-wise before the final release. Please also note that Beta testers will log in and play on the regular game worlds with the Beta version of Tibia 11.

We hope we can count on your help and constructive feedback!

Do you think it is going to be end of the botting era?

Perfect statement!

Hmmm I personally don't think this is 100% true but never know.... However I think if this update gets rid of bots for a decent amount of time the price of the items are going to go up and also the people who sell gold are going to make BANK selling off their stock
@HalfAway you expect anything less then a perfect statement coming from @Red :p

This is impossible, its a paradox. How can they have a copy of Tibia "without CIPs involvement" when CIP makes Tibia?
Perhaps people love the game but hate the developer, Open tibia is a perfect way to get somewhat away from this.
Having higher chance of finding a developer that actually listens to their community is something that interests me and is something that would draw me to Open Tibia.

Well ofcourse, I just thought all that goes without saying :p

It's however still impossible to not have CIP "involved" if you constantly keep copying their constantly updated product. This is not really arguable :p

But like the depot thing, isn't it the obvious solution for TFS/OT to just have 1 depot instead of 10+? Thus, making OT different yet better than Tibia.

BOTTING WILL NEVER END! People will just make new bots god damn it.

I don't think this will change anything as far as botting goes.
Looking forward to seeing improvements on the new client though, hopefully they update the font.

@Syntax
Nicely done.

But i wonder is the client still limited? Such as Soul max display 255, Max Magic Effects 255, ModalWindow max display entries 255 and etc...
