Hello.

Some time ago I stared with a @bpawel10 developing 6.4 Tibia server. We have created our own map editor, a simple panel for creating and editing characters, monsters, support the MySQL connection, we have a lot already prepared and we will have even more.

Due to the fact that we also deal with other things, time to alpha version will still come. But now we are curious, dear forum members, what would you most expect from this type of server? Currently on the server we try to reconstruct the mechanics of the game from those days, despite very rare information and difficult access to them.

I would play just for the nostalgia.
You should release the software aswell, when finished, to contribute!

This makes no sense, unless you want people to just log in for fun, mechanics were broken and people will heavily abuse them nowadays. I'm curious to know if you guys cracked up old sprite files, and if you will use old 6.4 client, a 7.x client or OTClient.

I don't want to sound negativist, but in my mind 6.x files would only work for a vintage alternative sprite pack for 7.x servers.

If you really wanna go for it, I think a map based on old screenshots, trying to mimic what Tibia was in that time would be cool. You probably already got access to things like that, but check this Creating server based on Tibia 5.0

I imagine quite some players are interested in trying out a 6.4 server. Yet few would manage to run the old client on a modern day computer.
What's the best way to go about this process?

On Linux or Mac we are using Wine which run original client very smoothly. Also on Windows 7 and below client will start normally. I don't have Win8 or 10, so I can't tell now if it will work there or not.

I will try to do some research if it's possible and how.

Own map editor, from scratch? Or RME? I would love to see it, I have this fetiche when it comes with map editors

Yes, @bpawel10 wrote them from 0 in Javascript. We have tried to add support to RME but it was too hard. Here is how it looks now.

Maybe it's not advanced as RME, but for this stage of development is enough for us :p We will also improve it later.

Yay JavaScript <3 xD
What format are you storing the map on?

It's .bin which contains only data about tiles and items, but we're planning to move to .otbm to be able to add other things, like action id and unique id.

Woooohooo !! To be honest I only enter this site sometimes to check if some old Tibia 6.x projects are on. Hope this project at least will start not like others like "We have nearly 100% of project and soon we gonna start" then suddenly dissapear and no more infos. Im crossing my fingers for you. I can help if you need help - im kinda experienced in old tibia history mechanics etc. And i was part of team that was doing Tibia 5.0 recreation but using 7.x client. I can script in LUA and program in C#/Java/Python.

Although it's not my taste because of the graphics but I am curious how Tibia was back then. I wonder which vocation was dominating back then. But I'll have to wait until next year to find out. I wonder if that's also where the semi-famous event of the ferumbras (not sure if this monster will be included). Gonna be interesting.

only way to run 6.4 on 64bits is either by Virtual machine or to create OTC (which will probably be better as of features and possibilities!
Hello. No, project is not abandoned. Together with @bpawel10 we had to pause our development, but for sure we will be back in early 2018.

There may be another way to do this, we didn't investigate it yet but I found this solution some time ago and we'll for sure check if it works: Wine on Windows
On Windows 7, XP mode also could help: Download Windows XP Mode from Official Microsoft Download Center

Modifying OTC to work with Tibia 6.4 will be very hard, it's not only about the UI and protocol but also Tibia.dat seems to have different structure than in Tibia 7.0+, and we haven't yet figured out completely how it looks like.

6.4 client is pain in the ass and you will suffer from hotkey botters
