Greetings, old fellows,
like a year or so ago I thought an interesting idea while just doing my casual irl business. Maybe I should go and play the real tibia on my little after work free evenings. And yeah that was a great idea which let me felt that I am a kid who yesterday was skinning a minotaur leather for a half of his day and preying to see The Horned Fox to loot the precious and the only one Nose Ring! Few months ago I thought maybe I should start to do something with open tibia again as well, huh? Yes. No doubt I found the best thing to spend my evenings and even I can't sleep sometimes how much I want to develop my new very niche project. Original Cipsoft Tibia 7.8. Because this is the days where I remember my Tibia and my Retro feelings cause' in 7.4~ I remember myself as a noob killing trolls for the months and left Rookgard at level 11.

Ok, ok, so about the project. Sabrehaven I already see as a very interesting and promising project which Open Tibia haven't seen so detail wise when speaking about 7.8 real tibia projects.

Lil' list of Sabrehaven Aces:
  • Server is based on the newest TFS distribution and I'm always updating relevant things to my branch.
  • Most of the resources are Original (the hacked ones). For ex, Sabrehaven is using the original 7.72 map with its scripting, original Cipsoft based NPCs system, original items system and original monsters from 7.72 times. Basically all the best goods which Dennis gave us. Also, no doubt that many of the good things were taken from Ezz Nostalrius distro. Applause's for them please.
  • Sabrehaven has very nicely map-tracked Liberty Bay map with all of its shattered isles which was a little challenging to import in to the Cipsoft original map.
  • Everything is properly downgraded to 7.8 protocol and all the 7.8 protocol related features works on its finest. Of course, I couldn't say that the mechanics are so well developed as in a neighborhood Tibiantis project which I do follow a lot :).
  • Most of the 7.8 related NPCs, items, monsters and quests are already implemented however still quite much to go.
  • Details even if them are lil' ones, map is detailed with shop signs and lil' monster spawns like carrion worms and etc. All of the heart touching items will be never missed. Yes, you will whistle a wolf with your wooden whistle and feel free to open Tibia rum distilling business.

For discussion:
I think that speaking about server rates or when we could see the possible beta launch is too early to speak. However, I don't see Sabrehaven as a 1x original server. I think the rates would be from medium to low since the 7.8 has a lot of space for fun PvP and grinding your outfit for final Ferumbras' Hat while still bringing you all the best retro memories.

All the ideas and offers are very welcome to see!
 
For a while I was working on to the Calassa details now. The major miss functioning thing in the regular servers are the drowning condition mechanics. So, I decided to take a little of investigations to fix them as they supposed to be.

Usually in most of the servers drowning condition is basically set on the ocean floor stepIn for infinity which is not really correct if seeking for a real tibia mechanics.

Cause' drowning is finite (only 5 hits each 4 seconds) and besides of that you shouldn't drown if you are constantly moving! Drowning happens only when you are not walking and idle for a lil'. As far as I remember the drowning mechanics keep same till the very beginning of 7.8. Feel free to read more info in wiki or you can take a look in youtube as well. This is how it looks in Sabrehaven.

Also, the very causal miss mechanics can be seen when wearing the helmet of the deep underwater. In majority of the servers when walking you will experience annoying POFF, POFF effects and even a drowning icon. In real tibia this also shoudn't experience. When you are wearing the helmet of the deep you won't get an icon status about "You are drowning." since with the helmet you are not of course and so no POFF, POFF caused due condition protection.

1. I'm unsure yet. But I very hope to make first public beta with higher rates than in actual production release in like a month or so if everything will go well.
2. Yes, server will have hotkey system. I personally see so unfair about servers without hotkey system because in Tibia it is so easy to make a simple tool which can recognize image patterns even without injecting to client, also there are variety of hotkey aim tools in internet. So, it goes very unfair for players which has self made hotkey aim tools Vs. doesn't have.
3. Yes, will do.
4. Yes, but very little. There definitely won't be any custom map but some custom things yes. For example, I am thinking to implement for donating people a happy hour stamina time just similarly as is in the real Tibia. Also, in 7.8 there is no such thing as green stamina or happy stamina. So, I call this thing a custom feature. Furthermore, there won't be any custom items as well. Besides of that, I have few custom implementation ideas but maybe about that later when I will realize them.
 
For few days in a row I was working constantly on the 7.8 monster mechanics and loot drops. So, finally got replicated them as best as I could according tibia wiki's & in-game testings.
Did you know that Pirates are the real marauders and they will always re-target the weakest near by enemy immediately? :)

Lately, I was working on the new 7.8 NPCs positioning and basic functionalities like trade and etc. So, now no one NPC is missing from the 7.8 era.
Also, Rookgard in Sabrehaven will be a big thing as well cause it has all the original content which was left from the 7.72. So, Rookgard features won't be forgotten as well. Now I have finished the Druid Outfits Quest on Rook & Citizen Outfits Quest on Rook which will prolong an interesting rookslayer life in Rookgard a lot.

Also, I have implemented the feature for rookslayers that once you reach level 8 in Rookgard then the regular experience stages which works for players with vocation will not for players without vocation. As a result, if you are in Rookgard with level higher or equal than 8 you will experience a regular 1x experience rate. This should prolong the challenges in the rook and will balance the Rookgard for everyone.
 
For these days I was developing few of the longest quest sagas. So, for now I have fully finished The Shattered Isles Quest with its every island access and the Meriana Quest (also known as Nargor Island Quest).

Why not 7,92 ?
To be honest the one of the major reasons why 7.8 protocol and not any other is because I don't want to grab on my shoulders way too much work instantly. Since the server is based purely according from the original Cipsoft 7.72 resources it makes a lot of effort to put in everywhere where I go. For example, even the simple import/export piece of map in the map editor is kinda struggle since I am using the original Cipsoft items ids I have to reconvert the whole maps in to my format since for instance the chain armor in Cipsoft Tibia is with id 3358 while in OT it has id 2464. Yes, I do convert the maps based on an algorithm, however it doesn't always go with great success and I usually have to manually fix map bugs. I am having tons of repetitive work to be done with newly introduced quests of 7.8 since I am using original Cipsoft NPCs system without any LUA and etc. Of course, all of that effort is very worth because the vice-versa engineering of the original resources would be even more costly.

Second of that, the 7.8 has the most of the 7.92 feelings since it has hotkeys, addons, many new outfits and of course Liberty Bay! Furthermore, if the Sabrehaven 7.8 version would be successful I would be willing to start developing a new world which would be 7.92 protocol. In addition, the 7.92 developing would be times easier on top of the current Sabrehaven 7.8 version. Also, I have done a lot of tools to convert from OT based resources to Cipsoft resources like Map, Monsters and etc.

  • Citizen Outfit Quest in Mainland
  • Barbarian Outfit Quest
  • Druid Outfit Quest

And again. Blooming Griffinclaw Y U NO BLOOM?! Well, Griffinclaw blooms only once per month so keep sure to not miss the bloom day.
 
When I develop quest lines I take extraordinary details in to the NPCs transcripts and further details. Sabrehaven probably will be the only 7.8 Real Map server ever where you can feel like really playing the Tibia. Today I have completely finished two outfit quests:
  • Knight Outfit Quest
  • Hunter Outfit Quest

For a few evenings I am developing more and more outfit quests to finally accomplish all of them. Just now finished implementing 2 more of them:

More and more addon quests got finished here in Sabrehaven. Here we got two more addon quests:
  • Oriental Outfit Quest
  • Nobleman/Noblewoman Outfit Quest

Finally I have got finished all 11 addon quests and now just have left the 4 special quest-outfit quests. In to the accomplishment list adds:

Sometimes waiting for 2 hours takes way longer than two hours. Specially when you are waiting for yours Demodras' Claw on your shoulder.

Maybe we should go BETA?
To be honest, I already got bored by constantly developing the quests for addons & outfits and CAN'T WAIT till all of them gets finished. Of course, while developing the quests I do variety of miscellaneous things for server value but casually they are not that interesting to show-off.

How do you guys think how long should be BETA? Also, I do expect that after BETA there will be immediately the launch to production. What rates would you expect during BETA days to comfortably explore the Sabrehaven server? Maybe any suggestions to take very in to concern when launching the BETA or final release? All in all, if speaking about my self I do believe that the ticket to BETA is very close.

to have a good beta you should have high rates i don't think people want to waste their time to much and after a reset

I am so glad that there are only two outfit quests left! Once I finish the last two I gonna announce the day for beta and the exp stages!
