Tibiantis - reversed old Tibia project - discussion thread

basing it on a cam is way to random, doubt they even bothered changing the drop chance for a food item :p if were to guess it's probably just the same as fire mush. they did so many lazy copy pasta things around that era.

How is some random number out of thin air less random than actual statistical data? There's nothing to indicate it'd be the same as fire mushroom. These weren't even listed one after the other in the loot.

Actually if I am not mistaken they increase the drop change of coconut of demons in some update because of Paradox Tower quest.

I remember this aswell, and they didn't compensate everyone either, damn that was a long time ago :D
i remember that bug with statues!
The parcel thing i'm telling you there was like 3 parcels stacked around the player.
if the door to the house was open and someone throw around the parcel around the sqm the player logged out on they wear teleported inside the house in front of the door and could pick up the items that was close to them i can show some pictures how it look later

I found out about that house bug. In 7.55 update they reworked the doors mechanics. They wanted to make it so that the doors would push you to any free square (forward, back, or any side) rather than one way like before. The issue was that when all the squares were blocked (by statues for example) it should push you forward, like it always did previously. But instead they made it push to the south regardless of the door type. So it worked for north-south oriented doors just fine, but for west-east... not so much.

It allowed stealing from a few houses, where the most famous was Castle Shop 1

One guy from Eternia lost over 1M gp worth from the square next to his bed. And yes, they didn't compensate anyone nor rollback. This message was broadcast by gms on most worlds: "There is a house bug going around, if you want to be on te safe side, remove all items in a range of 2 fieldsaround any door". Although it said about "any door", it was only abusable in a few spots (like those above). Soon cip closed all servers to quickly fix it. That was one day after the update (17th November 2005).

The "parcel bug" I didn't find anything about. I assume it was just an OT thing.

The parcel thing was atleast an OT thing then, as it worked the same way with magicwalls.
I remember many years ago that you could magwall six squares outside the door to a house, while having a character logged out just outside the door. When login you got pushed inside the door, and could possibily steal atleast from three squares inside the house.

I'm pretty sure it was only an OT thing. No way you'd log in the house without an invitation on real tibia.
By the way, one detail that not many remember is that in real tibia you couldn't abuse tp to get to temple from a house. If you logged out inside a house and enough characters took the spots around, you'd log in back just outside the house and not in your home temple like normally :)

You're most likely right. I should have clarifiied that I was talking about OT's only. 😃

The thing is in Cip 7.7 server you may be pushed both ways, depending on whether there are any obstacles. The 'front' side is prioriotized, so if no obstacles at all, or both sides having an equal blockade, you will be pushed to the front. In other case you may be pushed to the back as well.
Unless it's an m-wall or wild growth tree, cause then, well, this happens...

Pictures taken on Cip server. Not a big issue with standing on doors, but m-wall cannot be destroyed at all.

Now, the question is whether the whole mechanism was any different in 7.4. I believe it could.
I remember somewhere around 7.55 patch there was a bug that pushed people to the side, on the wall, which even resulted in possible items theft from certain houses. Some screenshots on the internet may still be found:

Cipsoft fixed it the same day, so of course this bug doesn't appear in 7.7 server anymore. However maybe it means that was the time when they actually were changing doors-behavior. We can notice that one mino statue and assume this was the cause. Maybe the newly-implemented mechanism had a little mistake in the code.
But it could have also been caused by something else. Around that time they also announced house walls replacement:

Anyway, if we can find atleast one recording to confirm you were always pushed to the front in 7.4, we will fix it (but what to do with m-wall?). Personally, I think you're right @Astrax but not 100% sure yet.

Another thing is this table-passthrough. It works just as doors, but in ots you'd actually end up standing on top, it doesn't push characters.

So which way is correct as for 7.4?
It's been years here but you were supposed to end up standing on top, like this:

Im sure website had a deadline did it not?
Like 6 7 months ago?

Deadline no, ETA yes. But as we later explained it only assumed changing the front at the time (new layout and several new functions), which was in fact finished, but in the meantime we decided it was needed to rewrite the whole website (and alot of other integrated back-end infrastructure) from scratch because of how buggy it was. Hence the release was postpopned for until everything is completed. And I wish it wasn't taking that long, but there were also other things to do, including the whole update, and we're only three people who don't even do it for living. So yes, I regret bragging about the website before it was done. That's also why we don't announce anything that's not ready for release anymore, as you may notice above. But the decision to change the initial plan was necessary.
So what does that have to do with my answer then? 🤔
