[CANADA] [7.4] Serpent - Darkrest 7th March 19 CET | Rarity, Crafting, Enchanting, Upgrading, House Auctions, Original Mechanics, and more!

Server Website/AAC

Server Address

Server Port
7171
Client Protocol
7.4
Great server, sadly big PA and its unplayable for neutrals/rpg players.

Would be amazing if staff updated Historia, their previous server to all the same map and systems of Serpent, i think this would bring back former players who might not want to start over again on brand new low rate, keep the 2x exp and skills as is on historia though.

its more the Gms don't listen to the players that know how 7.4 damage mechanics and systems are supposed to be and they refuse to fix stuff that is common sense. Huge gm inactivity. Its just a hobby for them.

Jeidi treats the project as another passive income, do not get baited about passion or sth from him
and about nekiro, prawdziwek, not sure why people trust them after 1st edition
Passive what? It would be better to reset it after a month, repeatedly, if I treat it in this manner. I would also not keep the Historia server running for over two years, as it is not generating a single penny and costs thousands to stay alive. However, that's true; it's our (only?) hobby, not job. It would be very foolish to treat an open game server as a job, as you wouldn't earn enough to live a comfortable life, and it's a precarious thing that could theoretically be shut down within days by Cipsoft. I've been working in the CS:GO skins industry before, which also had a glass ceiling, and that was brutally enforced by Valve taking millions out of the companies within a day by banning accounts with skins and then adding trade restrictions. Lesson learned.

Considering the time invested in the project, costs, and revenue, we'd earn more working at Zabka ("Polish 7-Eleven"), looking only at hourly revenue. (Assuming 2 years, 4 months, and 10 days of development as of today = 584 working days, that would be around 225,634.35 pln net on a minimal wage in Poland, and it's more than the server revenue netto is. However, we could easily generate significantly more if we had 3-4 launches a year, without retaining old players' data and incorporating some pay-to-win (P2W) elements into the store. If I wanted additional passive income, I'd stick to things I do on a day-to-day basis, and that'd be way more financially beneficial to me.

I don't see where it's a shame for the project to be considered a hobby project. I'm sorry to say that, but treating it as a job, to live from it, would make the server like other (I don't want to mention names here) servers that have resets. We'd probably split Darkrest into two or three protocols (like 7.4, 8.0, 8.6/Newer) and run them one after another. Then, yeah, that'd make sense. Is that something you want the developers to do? (It's a rhetorical question.) I said that I want a long-term server. I believe I delivered it (at least as much as I can, since I can't force players to play something, especially when they don't like it, but from technical point of view, we delivered what we said - a server that haven't been shut down nor reset, and I also belive that in OT community, it should be already considered longterm after over 2 years of development and over 2 years of hosting the same server without resets) by keeping the server to this day after over 2 years of development put, and wasting not only money on it but also a lot of energy.

This post doesn't necessarily represent the team's point of view, and I didn't consult with anyone before providing this answer; it's my personal perspective.

First of all, why server being a hobby is bad approach? Most of players threat this game as hobby as well. You all know what happens when the administration of any server/company focus on revenue - and no, you dont like those server, just like you dont like real tibia. Of course, there are down sides to it - server will be developed slowly and big updates might come in years or never. But as it's MMO - community is crucial and looks like you guys are looking for something that's unreachable at this age - you won't have kid's passion and interest in such grindy thing, yet you walk around trying to find it, but probably it won't ever come back and it's not server nor administration fault.

I will post it here for the gm since he forget to update it here i guess. New update today and its perfect;

Areny you gona reset server? Is it still worth to join?
There are no talks about resetting the server (Serpent) at all. In fact, we have never done a reset of the server. Historia has the same data and characters it had 2 years ago.

The server is open for you if you want to play a low-rate 7.4-based server with custom content and features.

It's good to hear the server won't reset. I had a break from the server but now back at it again and I must say it's definitely one of the really good servers out there. I think more people will come back once the hype from some of the seasonal servers cools down a little.
Im interested in hearing what updates you guys have planned for the future.

well this is one he just posted on discord:

Sadly, admins didn't follow their vision of the server and let the people decide on core system ingame, which as expected ended as drama and further exodus of the players. System poll should be taken as "if" and not "how" to handle things and admins should've full decisive power in making changes and players should be taken as suggestive -how to possible change things - and informative - what should be done.

I just hope vanilla 7.4 freaks will now enjoy the server to the fullest.

Dear Darkrest team,
I would like to express my dissatisfaction and concern regarding the recent direction the server has taken, especially following the latest update, which significantly altered the gameplay and undermined the credibility and original vision of the project.Since the shift to the 7.4 formula, we’ve seen a clear imbalance between vocations, with a severe nerf to paladins that completely compromised the experience for those who chose that class. The removal of their core gameplay has discouraged many players, while other vocations—such as the Bard, who now uses swords and shoots SDs—have been heavily favored. These design decisions seem to ignore the server’s original proposal and show a lack of respect toward the community that invested time and effort over the long term.
A server that presented itself as a long-term project is now introducing frequent and unexplained changes, creating an impression of instability similar to that of a test server. This erodes player trust and drives away both veterans and new players who are looking for a consistent, stable, and fair experience.
From my perspective, Darkrest has become an experimental server disguised as a long-term project, and due to these arbitrary changes and lack of transparency with the community, I am expressing my discontent and my decision to step away from the server.

That said, I would like to ask directly: what changes or actions do you plan to take regarding paladins, who clearly felt harmed by these recent decisions? The lack of communication and balancing has left a significant portion of the community feeling disregarded.

I hope this feedback is taken into serious consideration so that Darkrest can regain its credibility and its commitment to the player base

Kinda late to the party I guess, this was changed few weeks ago.

It was not unpredictable nor is frequent. This change was entirely voted out by the community and was a single occurrence.

Not to mention balance changes is a normal behaviour of any game that keeps running, because it's natural process to balance things out.

You are always welcome on the server, lots of things is happening, but formula will not go back to how it was before.
I directly stated many times, we will evaluate situations and buff things if needed (as we already did with few crossbows).

This is the first (here) and last message to this subject, it's already old at this point.

Unfortunately, the changes that were made ended up turning the server into just another 7.4 vanilla, like so many others out there, abandoning the original concept that once made it unique and resulting in a repetitive and tiresome experience, similar to what we already see across much of the market
