Unfortunately, the changes that were made ended up turning the server into just another 7.4 vanilla, like so many others out there, abandoning the original concept that once made it unique and resulting in a repetitive and tiresome experience, similar to what we already see across much of the market
This is what this server (Serpent) was supposed to be. You can read about this in the first post.

Sad to see that you feel like it's another vanilla, because I wouldn't really say it's another vanilla.
We aren't even keeping it strict to be vanilla or anything and it was never the target. We wanted to keep the base similar, but on top of it add an unique twist, but still avoid making it too complicated.

I don't think different formula changed that, the concept is left untouched.
What you can feel is that you aren't as powerful as you used to be and don't get me wrong I totally understand why you feel this way. But... we can all agree that paladins were just too powerful before, there was even bigger gap between this vocation and others.

Either way if you change your mind, you are more than welcome to rejoin the server.
As long as there are players the server will be actively developed.

What bothers me the most about all this is that, after spending so much time playing legitimately and putting in the effort, the server completely changed its gameplay. The entire journey I went through from level 30 to over 100 — grinding in tombs, hunting banshees and bonebeasts, testing every spawn to balance waste and experience — was basically thrown away like it meant nothing.

These recent changes destroyed the sense of progression that many of us built with dedication. Not only did they alter spawn dynamics and creature balance, but they also completely ignored community feedback. It feels like the staff is now listening more to trolls than to real players who were there every day, grinding and leveling up without relying on shortcuts.

It’s a lack of respect toward those who spent hours and days progressing within the very system they created. Now, everything we achieved is being devalued, as if the server no longer cares about the players who helped grow and support the community from the beginning.

This isn’t just about balance — it’s about trust. And unfortunately, they’re losing that more and more.

unfortunately every darkrest edition died due to administration
Unfortunately, after the update, the server's Discord has pretty much turned into a space filled with complaints. The chaos caused by the administrator’s changes seems to have spiraled out of control, leading to endless discussions about necessary fixes. Players spend all day debating things like increasing Mage regeneration and the overall difficulty of making a profit from hunts issues that weren’t as common before the update. As a result, the number of active players has dropped significantly, and the ones still hanging around mostly spend their time venting their frustrations in the server’s Discord. People say things are fine, but they really aren’t
In recent days, I’ve been following one of the few streamers who broadcasted live from the server, where a discussion arose about the impact of the Paladin nerf. This adjustment led to a significant decline in the community. One of the main points debated was the administrator’s lack of consideration for player feedback, highlighting difficulties in addressing the community’s opinions and needs.

Additionally, the absence of truly committed tutors to assist players and promptly respond to tickets has contributed to a decrease in engagement within the server. The lack of proper support has negatively affected players' experiences, driving many away from the community.

While I acknowledge the administrator’s competence as a programmer, their administrative management has failed to meet expectations. Paying attention to the community and valuing player feedback are essential to maintaining a healthy and engaging environment within the server

Just a note regarding the text above upon checking, I noticed that the people who participated in the vote about the 7.4 formula change haven’t played on the server for a long time, making it clear that the decision ended up being influenced by trolls and people who no longer play ultimately determining the direction of the server.

Today we had yet another vote on something the community did not ask for, and now they want to implement something similar to Tibia Stash. Players are clearly saying that this update completely strays from the vanilla 7.4 experience.
Since we’re on a custom server, it’s obvious that Nekiro is not listening to the community and is making decisions on his own. The complaints are piling up:It’s not possible to improve your items using rerolls, as they are random and hard to obtain.
The loot tables are broken, making it almost impossible to profit from hunting.
Mages have received no improvements, and paladins are heavily nerfed.
how many more players have to quit before they start listening to those who still play on the server?

It's in a poll, and majority has so far voted Yes to it.

Yes, definitely GM's do decisions on their own in THEIR server, community can influence that decision not dictate it. It's getting old at this point. Sounds like all your complaints is the server being too hard.

"Community did not ask for", sorry but that is literally the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time. I don't have to ask permission to try introduce new things or rework old with better QoL. This is not like you are keeping me alive when playing the server, this server does not even make money to keep me fed, so please take your sense of entitlement elsewhere.

If you don't like the changes why are you still here? Just to complaint or you want the server to die? I can't find another reason to keep repeating the same thing over and over again. And no, nothing is piling up, because things are being addressed constantly and being worked on. On the other hand you bashing on any new poll or any new feature/QoL/whatever is just an excuse to attack once again.

Either way I liked this thread without unnecessary drama and all that spam, so your next messages will likely not be answered again as I see it won't change a thing if I do anyway.

No need to reply, take it easy. You've already driven away more than half of the Paladins who still played on the server. If that was your intention, you're doing well. Keep it up, and you'll make the server die on its own with attitudes like this. Good luck

I don't typically respond to comments like these, but as you can see in the first post, it was how the server was advertised and intended to work. We gave players decision-making power since it was discovered and fixed post-launch. If anyone is indignant that the server received an update that fixes the incorrect formula, and makes the server the way it should be (and the way it was advertised to be), it's not the devs' or voting players' fault. We didn't write that the serpent will use custom attack/armor formulae. We also didn't specify that it is 8.0, 8.6, or anything similar, so I'm unsure how you can draw a conclusion that it was advertised in this manner.

Post automatically merged:

Today, the vote on Tibia Stash was canceled, with the justification that many participants don’t even play on the server. Will the change to the vanilla 7.4 formula also be canceled, since the same issue occurred?

Patch 5.1.3

(live after 11:00 05/06/2025 CET)

It's mainly a balance and bug-fixing update, but it might change how hunts are approached.

Server:

  • Undead Gladiator sees invisible targets now;
  • Fixed a possible crash (that never happened fortunately) connected to combat types;
  • Pydar correctly gives blessings when you have a phoenix egg in your inventory;
  • Conjure Power Bolts conjure count changed 10 -> 5;
  • Fixed Banshee Quest tile seal;
  • Fixed “A player with this name is not online.” while sending a message;
  • Improved NPCs behavior when multiple players are talking at the same time;
  • Fixed Explorer Society Ice Delivery Quest;
  • Rune charges are shown in the loot messages now;
  • Rarity stackable items are properly counted in loot messages now;
  • Added Orichalcum Pearls to Dark Torturer and Betrayed Wraith;
  • Orc Warmonger drops additional Heavy Magic Missile Runes now;
  • Added an Elementalist bonus to artefacts (it increases an element’s damage by a percentage);
  • Scarab Coins are sellable now;
  • Backpacks are prioritized while adding items to the player instead of the main inventory;
  • Changes in Cyclopedia:
    • added Quivers category
    • added Valuables category
  • Removed wands and rods from loot tables;
  • Whiskey has been removed from purchase;
  • Fixed issue with rarity monster reset logic, causing rarity monsters to be sometimes reset when they shouldn't;
  • Ores can be mined even without the proper skill level (to avoid ores blocking players), it won't result in gaining the ore though;
  • Fixed forever-invisible monsters;
  • Rarity monster spawn rates changed: Elite – 1.5% (50% increase), Mythic – 0.5% (~35% increase), Legendary – 0.05% (~350% increase);
  • Monster rarity type is visible in the loot message now;
  • Added 30% less loss reduction for promoted players;
  • Conjuring now works in-place, meaning your rune will create exactly where your blank rune is kept;
  • Fixed issue with light spells being overridden by other light sources, which caused light desync;
  • Fixed an issue with containers sometimes not being properly closed when moved out of inbox;
  • Slightly adjusted Frost Dragon loot;
  • Slightly decreased target change intervals for monsters globally;
  • All elemental arrows NPC price changed to 3gp;
  • Dragons will now drop burst arrows, but not like vanilla, the count is reduced by half;
  • Added better dialogs to NPC Bearly, he now asks if you are sure you want to travel;
  • Players are now properly demoted when premium runs out;
  • Runes drop was adjusted (mostly in task system bosses);

Client:

  • Added “Smooth Retro” – probably the best rendering option you can use since now!
  • Added warning to the NPC trade if trying to sell equipped items;
  • Added item name tooltip to the NPC trade item box;
  • Elemental Effectiveness is now shown in Skills stats tab;
  • You can now pin your favorite characters to the top in Character List;
  • Hunt Analyser will now shorten the number for better readability;
  • Added Event Calendar, which will keep track of timed events happening on the server;

Website:

We have conducted lots of general improvements for readability and SEO with addition of short Intro post that introduces new players into the world of Darkrest.
There were also small layout fixes, but won't list them separately.

Launcher:

We have dropped Squirrel for installation and update of our Darkrest Launcher app due to numerous compatibility issues. We now use a more compatible way of installing the software - NSIS installer which is native to windows os.

This means, the old 2.x.x version will no longer auto update to the newest major version (3.0.0).
You are required to redownload it from Darkrest Online | Classic Tibia 7.4 Experience (https://darkrest.online/download).
Please do this as soon as possible.

Coming from someone who has played every iteration of Darkrest released to the public, I have to say that Serpent is by far worth anyone who enjoys the 7.4 engines time. The staff barely interferes with politics, and if I’m being honest, allows a bit too much freedom of speech inside the Discord.

Many people in the 7.4 community know me pretty well, and coming from someone who advocated and supported Medivia for so many years, this is the server you’re looking for in a sense of longevity and the true lowrate feel. You will not find tons of cash and runes for sale on the black market, if any. They don’t even allow players to utilize a single mc.

There are some custom features as they listed, and just about anything that was added that is not balanced has been reworked or removed.

I cannot advocate enough to anyone who is looking for the true nostalgic feeling, with some 2025 quality of life features, to come and try Serpent. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Anyone who has any questions can message me. I would be more than happy to help whoever with anything they are wondering about.

What was your name on Medivia? Maybe I know you there
