Hey everyone,

I’m currently working on a Custom Rookgaard compatible with Tibia 7.4/7.72. The goal is to create a high-quality, polished, engaging Rookgaard experience — something nostalgic but also fresh enough to make players actually want to log in and stay.

Before I move deeper into development, I’d really like to gather feedback from the OTLand community.
You all know better than anyone what makes or breaks a low-level starter island, so I’d love to hear your thoughts.

What I want to ask you all:

What features, mechanics, content, or design ideas MUST be included in a modern Rookgaard project to make it worth playing in 2025?

For example:
  • Should it be classic-like or have custom elements?
  • Should there be new quests, hidden secrets, or expanded map areas?
  • Do players expect professions, crafting, or progression systems on Rookgaard?
  • Is a longer Rookgaard experience desirable, or should players progress faster?
  • What monsters, challenges, or dungeons would you love to see reimagined?
  • What quality-of-life features are absolutely necessary today?
  • Should it be more solo-friendly or group-oriented?
Basically — what would make YOU try a new Rookgaard server today?
Any ideas, critiques, references, or examples are very welcome.
Your input will help shape the direction of this project, and I want it to reflect what the community actually wants, not just my own assumptions.

Thanks in advance,
I appreciate any feedback or inspiration you can give!

yeah no offence but its 2025 if it was possible im sure 99% of players would vote to remove rook from every single server unless its completely custom.

I don't think anyone is really interested in playing at rookgaard and that on 7.4/7.72

Hello, thank you for your quick feedback.

Unfortunately, I cannot agree with your message, and I will explain why.

I am also a player and have spent a lot of time on SoE, Realera and Medivia. There are very large groups there who play and are just as enthusiastic about it as I am.

I think that the greatest success here will be reaching as many people as possible who love Rookgaard.

I still believe that I am capable of creating a good project that will attract the attention of players, which is why I would like to hear more feedback from the Otland community.

essentially what you need is a web based chat system like irc. because thats what rookgaard is after like a week. you can add some rng simulator and pixels or whatever and just talk to people.
i think its nice you are passionate about tibia but you have chosen the completely wrong area to focus on. why even pick the most limited area of a huge game and focus on solely that? its like having the opportunity to lose your virginity but you say no lets just hold hands.

You explained it well, and I will definitely learn from it. I don't think I'm ready to open another buggy Real Tibia server with a main because there are hundreds of bugs there. In my opinion, to open a good Real Map server, you need to spend years fixing bugs and fine-tuning everything. I wanted to focus on Rookgaard itself, so I would have room to show off.

I will wait for more feedback from users.

Can you tell me what wins in this case?

Custom Map like Rookgaard but custom.

Rookgaard with a lot of systems, new features.

Is 7.4/7.72 still the best or better choice than another TFS with a higher protocol game?

But isn't it a big difference? You want a pure rookgaard while SoE, Realera and Medivia has a limited rookgaard (start)

The idea behind the whole project is to develop this rookgaard as much as possible and add as much content as possible. It all depends on how the gameplay is set up, but in reality, it is possible to make the gameplay just as enjoyable. I'm not talking about beating mino mages or dragons in the end game. I'm not saying we'll be fighting with spike swords until the end. Other servers may be very limited, but we won't have to limit ourselves because we won't have Rookgaard, but there will be server lore where we will explore the destroyed cities of the mainland and do additional missions/quests.

So the idea is to have rookgaard as the base server with new edits from your side

You could put it that way. I have some cool crafting, upgrade, item attributes, etc. systems. I would like to use them as much as possible. I would also like to add a lot of missions, quests, hidden places, a few islands, daily tasks, alchemy, mining, etc.

What do you think about it?

honestly you'd be better off making a custom map and just base it on rook. but perhaps asking the people that enjoy playing those type of things would be easier.

That is precisely our plan and intention. We are constantly working on and developing this project as much as possible. Rookgaard is just the base, everything else is custom-made. We want to give players as much to do as possible so that they don't get bored just levelling up. There will be a lot of systems, and I hope that some of you will be interested. We will also try to do a good job of marketing and advertising before the launch. We care about your ideas and your vision.

Thank you very much to everyone for your comments and opinions. I would be very pleased to hear more opinions from the Otland community.

Rookgaard but with a touch of mainland features. Nothing too overwhelming or overkill would work but it’s an even more niche player base, and Tibia is already a niche player base.

I played Tibia many, many years ago and had a level 76 in Rookgaard. Why? Because Rookgaard has a certain nostalgia about it and unsolved mysteries. I dedicated years playing on that island on and off. Maintain that and you will be successful (for that tiny player base).
