Best, most stable engine for 8.6 classic real tibia ots?

Hey, thinking about hosting a classic 8.60 real-tibia style server and I’m trying to pick the most stable engine (least crashes/leaks, solid combat/movement, etc.).


From what I’ve read, some people still call TFS 0.4 the most stable option for 8.6, but also mention it’s pretty old at this point.I also keep seeing recommendations to use Nekiro’s TFS 1.5 downgrade / 8.6-based fork since it’s more “modern” and maintained compared to the old 0.x line.And for OTX: is OTX2 still considered a safe/stable pick for 8.6 nowadays, or better to avoid?


Any suggestions on what you’d personally run in 2025 (and which repo/branch)?


I would like to work very well with 8.6 real map included out of the box. I will not add any custom modifications - just aiming to resemble 8.6

This is the latest tfs downgraded to 8.6, I didn't run it with real players, but it seems stable

This downgrade tfs (1.7) is not a truly 8.6, it will work with 8.6 client, but it is not a classic "Tibia 8.6" server

Stable, but with lags.
Better option alkurius tfs 1.3 downgrade, but the map needs to be cleaned up there from crystal coins.

What do you mean with lags? Does the tfs 1.5 lag with high player count or? I have heard the same about MillhioreBT downgrade as well but no one mentions what lags. So you recommend alkurius tfs 1.3 downgrade as the most stable for the moment?

A few things you should also know.

• I advice to don't try open tibia in production stances if you're not able to understand or fix your own issues.
• Nekiro 8.6 downgrades is the most stable source for production but it needs work.
• You won't get any run&go server. Everything if code, if you understand code, you will understand what you have.

There's a really simple reason why you won't find a better stable base that Nekiro 8.6 downgrades. This source has everything you need for 8.6 millestones, there's nothing else to get "optimized" or "better" since further downgrades are downgrading the recent content (version 14). There's nothing really attractive for 8.6 on newer versions, in general terms; but, yes, you can find performance optimizations that could make it worth.

Yes, alkurius, don't forget about crystal coins on map.

Tfs 1.5 there is high ping, even with 1 player.
Character stand for few sec in one place.

About "stable", this is about engine not crashing, not turning off.

I ran in to a lot of issues with Millhiore my self, but not feeling any lag nor shutdowns, had it running for days. Also an issue that mehah client needs to be configured to work with those forks that can sometimes be a bit tricky ..

Millhiore repository is a fork of Nekiro downgrade. Nekiro did the clean downgrade from TFS main branch and Millhiore continued with the repository, upgrading it with latest features. So you probably are going to face a few compatibility issues, since newer system requieres, sometimes, a few client-side features to work.

This being said, you should go for Nekiro first to be able to run the server on normal Tibia 8.6 client first. And then add your own features or pipelines to apply them step by step. That's why Nekiro downgrade is cleaner in my opinion. Think about it this way, Alkurius, Millhiore, are repositories that already "connected" features to the server itself, in the other hand, Nekiro downgrade is the clean source to start working.
