What "killed" RL Tibia for YOU?

Ots should heavily reward people who arent botting, boring to play with high lvls who havent spend a minute of their time manually grinding like they should have

Tibia died for me when lvling got so easy, i enjoy smaller community with people i know and people who behave because they don't want to get hunted or killed while its really hard to level up. Thats why i enjoy Tibiantis, people respect people hunting in spawns and are respecting eachother, no stealing. Grining slowly and having a goal for next piece of armor or weapon really keeps you motivated.

what have we done other than mass botting and power abusing?
CIPSoft tailored the game further to accommodate this shit.

I'd probably go back to Tibia if they changed their server structure to one like Runescape, where if you were on a PVP server, you could just select from all the PVP servers. Sure houses would be owned by different people, doesn't matter, but you could just switch servers to a server where hunting spots are free and not dominando. Would be next to impossible to a single guild to own all servers, would be open for more wars as you could chase across certain servers and you could still try to war for control over a certain server, just wouldn't be able to power abuse people into not being able to play the game AT ALL. Could open up economy as well.. Then all non-pvp severs obviously restricted to that.

I might take away from new worlds opening and getting highscores on that server, but really, having 100 worlds each with their own high score isn't really high score is it :p. eventually servers just get the same level and populous as older servers anyway, so it's short lived hype playing on a new server.

Problem with Battle eye servers though... might be shitty lumping old high lvl botters in with the legit players... but also if botting still going on, atleast if you could switch servers, yo wouldn't have to put up with spawns blocked by botters either. Then could stop charging money for world transfer, the most dodgy shit ever. literally charging money to run a SQL query.

Not to defend Cipsoft, but don't most (if not all) servers (including Nostalther) charge money to change a characters name? which is also just a SQL query lol

Recently made a new char and did 8-100 in like 3 weeks. Hitting the same hotkeys, running lap after lap really isn't that fun. I don't have to care if I die because I can make the lost exp in 20 minutes. Also, I started with zero money, but hunting swamptrolls for a few hours I was able to waste until like lvl 60...

True, but if you could change names any time you wanted, there would just be massive abuse. On that subject, any chars that end up getting name locked can change their name for free, but rapidly changing names to avoid things like bans or player retaliation (from mass pk for example) would be problematic. Kind of like how people IRL can't rapidly change their names XD

In regards to Tibia charging money for world transfers, I just wished their server structure was something like Mu Online or Runescape, where the server didn't actually matter and was just a "realm" of types. So if you were being abused by a "dominando" guild, or if a hunting spot you wanted was taken, you could simply swap realm.

Also the fact you can pay for a world transfer vs a RAPID world transfer, implying there's a difference 🙄

Charging money is the easiest and laziest way to stop abuse. Much easier to charge $5 to abuse the game than it is to fix the game. Very similar to "p2w".

In the case of an OT that is supposed to be retro or nostalgic then it's understandable to limit with $$ rather than change the game. Cipsoft however are just hungry for money, clearly. They could do what a lot of places do, just show a recent or total history of name changes and only erase this history in cases of verifiable abuse.

Here's my experience of what changed or "killed" Tibia:

The entire economy of my world - and many others I'm sure - was focused on years of investing time on game-play from 7.4 through 8.0. My primary source of income (in-game) was based upon the sale of runes. I owned a Thais shop and farmed UH, SD, etc. for dozens of players and guilds. Once the 8.1 update was released, the entire game changed and I lost interest slowly but surely. Nothing was ever the same again. Not only did I lose a lot of money and time, but I lost a lot of friends... :( A lot of people I knew retired or gave up after this.

This nostalgic experience is one of many reasons I intend to launch a project that will resurrect the "Tibia" that was once lost and update it accordingly without destroying anyone's dedication and passion for the game.

For me it happened when cip removed pvp-enforced. Good old Inferna... 😢

That partially did it for me. No more exp from PK. But the final blow came when they added the blessings (especially the 6th "pvp blessing"). Then it was no longer possible to benefit financially from PvP. Instead I had to grind PvE to get enough runes and mana pots for PvP. And the fighting lost it's charm too. There was no point in killing people anymore. I mean, why be a PKer if I couldn't get pots, runes, gear and level up from doing it? Especially when PKing made me so many enemies it was difficult hunting anything without getting chased down by all my enemies ;)

But I will never forget that feeling when I found a perfect victim, around lvl 60-70 MS or ED, killing them and looting something amazing. Then fleeing across the map for what felt like an eternity while being chased by someone twice my level- only to run down a small hole where my friends were waiting, ready with SDs, fire elementals and demon skeletons. BAM!! ... Well, sometimes it ended with an UE, and all of us died. But I mean, some of the kills we got this way were GLORIOUS!

When cipsoft removed those PvP features of the game, they basically removed the game I was playing. And I haven't found a game like that ever since.

Why people complains too much about Twist of Fate blessing that prevents the AOL to drop, but never the AOL itself?
I don't get it.

I'm not defending the blessings, I don't like that idea too. I just don't understand why people think the Twist of Fate is bad and not the AOL.

AOL only prevents your character from losing items and costs 50k... twist of fate is a REALLY CHEAP blessing that is a no penalty death, you keep your blessings, thus your items and lose almost no exp and skill

OPEN PVP IS A JOKE

Thank you for your response.

As I know, the Twist of Fate does not prevents you from losing experience and skill, unless you have other blessings. Because these other ones that will really prevent you from lose experience and skill. Then, the Twist of Fate prevents only by an indirectly way, since it prevents you from losing the other blessings that prevents you from losing experience and skill.
Also, Twist of Fate costs 50k (5 crystal coins) after level 270 too.

So, what I think people maybe are complaining is maybe because Twist of Fate its like a second protection, which makes twice harder to make players to drop their loot and lose experience?

I'm just trying to understand the real reason to hate the Twist of Fate.

because a death means nothing, you don't lose anything but twist of fate and a really small amount of exp/skills

players just die, buy TF, die, buy TF, die, buy TF... there is no sense of "lost" at all

It's literally the most simple thing. tof is less expensive than aol even at it's maximum price of 50k because it offers significantly more value. (lose less exp, dont lose items, dont use up valuable amulet slot).

You see, back in the day if you killed someone they experienced a loss, tof was just another step toward death not being a mechanic in Tibia. Dying on tibia is basically just symbolic at this point.

Death has always been a core Tibia mechanic, you never wanted to die, especially to pkers. tof made that irrelevant.

So, it's okay to have other blessings and AOL, but not TOF? Since you would lose all blessings and AOL on death, if wasn't because of TOF.
