[7.4] Avesta (fork) - GITHUB PROJECT - OPEN SOURCE!

you could do all that in a couple hours, if that
I don't think so. You can make a 7.60-7.72 server similar to old era 7.4, but I want a "real" 7.4, and I'm still searching for the perfect engine with all features working.

I repeat again. OTHire only works on 7.6-7.72.
I want a 7.4 server.

I was going to post a direction on how to use 7.4 clients on it.
This server is better than Avesta, you can count on that 100 times.

protocolgame.cpp:

Remove xtea
Remove rsa
Remove soulpoints
Looktype is byte instead of uint16

Do that and you should be able to login with a 7.4 client

I see two handicaps:
- Why use a 7.4 client if you have a 7.72 server? The 7.4 map doesn't work out of the box in that server and you lose graphic options.
- You need to map with 7.72 sprites, I want to make a 7.4 map with 7.4 sprites.

So I have to fix all the map to get 7.4 sprites again, change 7.72 client to 7.4 sprites, to get a false 7.4 server, a false 7.4 client without 7.4 features?
Please tell me that there is another way to get a 7.4 server working less time consuming.
I only want a decent engine, put a custom map on it and concentrate on make amazing updates and let the people get fun.
What you mean with 7.4 features that a 7.72 version don't have? (parcel block is the only thing I can think, and maybe graphics - since 7.72 has nearby all sprites)

You are asking for the impossible here. We've worked on our server for two or three years now, which is from the start based on Avesta. Just fyi, some of the most key features for 7.4-7.72 does not exist in the source to begin with (stack crates/parcels to block, UH traps, correct monster behaviours etc) and it will take time to get it all working. Not to mention all the crash bugs we have patched along the way.

Is your definition of a real 7.4 server, a 7.4 client with poor graphic options?

Anyways if project gets serious and some real commitments and efforts are made, I will join in and help, for the sake of the community.

Annoying how you can't edit a post, you'd be better off making a 7.4 branch of othire

I really appreciate your help, what I'm looking for is to a good engine to work on. I'm not a programmer, that's the reason I look for help on that point. I want to concentrate on make the map, host the server, make updates on a regular base, and give the people who appreciate the old school an open source server and client.

I don't know why there isn't a good open source 7.4 server, when it's really easy to get a good server on all other versions. Mark did a great contribution to community when he released tfs and made it available to people. I want something similar with 7.4 version.

Off course, I would like to get a 7.4 client with graphic options. I know the only way for now is to downgrade a 7.72 client. But again, I don't have the skills to do that.

I think that the reason to keep the 7.4 server and client private is only the money. People who owns 7.4 servers want to keep money flowing to their pockets. Well, it's a good reason. But why not open source the engine and client? The people will not stop play on their servers. And maybe other people like me can make a good custom server to fill the hole. It's only a question of open/close minds. I see that shadowcores still have a lot of players. In my opinion, closing the sources only leads to more people leaving Tibia. Less good servers, less people joining them, less people helping on development.

I think it is pretty good that there is no real engine. It is better to have few but good old school server rather than lots of mid-tier servers, furthermore it would probably stop even more people from moving on.
Also, it is a pretty lame accusation that someone who worked hard on something just want to make money, they rather deserve it.

If you want a good server engine you should maybe try to downgrade TFS 1.0 instead of grabbing the shipwreck called Avesta.

Sorry if it sounds like an accusation, I only wanted to say that it's a good reason to keep the things private. Off course, it involves a hard work to get a decent server, and you deserve the right to make it available or not.

I'm open source minded, and I see no reason to keep my work private. If I manage to get a decent 7.4 server for sure I will made it open source, but it will be only my decision. If people got money after release it's not my deal.
I'm sorry if my statement injured someone.

Have you ever tried OTX? https://github.com/mattyx14/otxserver/tree/master/otxserver2/path_7x (with options for parcel trap, uh trap and more)
Have you ever played any current successful 7.4 server? All of them (ALL OF THEM) has the "Soul:0" square near character equipment, meaning that they all utilizes a downgraded 7.72 client. I don't know any of this shit like you (editing sourcers/custom clients) but the thirst thing I would do was open tibia.spr from version 7.72 at object builder and inject all old sprites at it, if you are to lame to do it, you can still use OTX.

Well, it's a good start.
I will try to do that, but I think that downgrade a 7.72 client is not only inject sprites, you need to change sources too.

You do not downgrade the client, you just add the sprites of 7.4 to your client and use a 7.7 server.
On the server side you will mime 7.4 behavior and gameplay.

If I understand you, the only way to get a 7.4 server is to use a 7.72 server and a 7.72 client. Is there no real 7.4 server working out there then?

That's what you should do, cause 7.72 client is way better. But you can still use OTX 7.4.
