Hey guys, what's with the small art section being moved to Multimedia? Now even less people are going to see spriters and their work which is already scarce around here. It may be my biased opinion, being a part of that group as well, but am I wrong in saying we should pronounce the existence of such activities rather than shove it a layer deeper away?

If mapping showoff can have its own board which is featured on the front page, why not sprites?
It's true that custom maps are what's needed for a custom server, but so are sprites in my opinion and if anything, I've noticed that recently more and more people are enticed by servers that use custom sprites on top of other features.

The Small Art board is a board for all other kinds of small art (including signatures and whatnot) which may not be relevant to open tibia, but as far as game sprites are concerned, I think they're a big step towards OT customization and deserve their own spotlight.

Nobody except few people have been posting anything (especially recently) but sprites in the Small Art section anyway.

My suggestion is to move the Small Art section back to the frontpage, whether it be under the OpenTibia category or Community Chatboards, and perhaps rename it to "Sprites", and rename the "Large Art" board to just Art and have people post any art that is not sprites there.

I'll just make a poll and let's see if there's enough people in the community that agree with this in the first place.

Agree, I believe it should be "Sprites" and not "OT Sprites" because the main category (OpenTibia) already make it clear :D

Imho OT art showoff should be divided to Sprites, Big Art (layouts..), Mapping showoffs (as to me good maps are art)
Non-ot related art could have it's own section.

I agree (rename and move to OpenTibia).

The reason about it being moved is because it had low activity and being unrelated to OpenTibia. Since it wasn't actually under "Open Tibia" category, sprites shouldn't really be there. I know it is confusing to guess what exactly should have been in the "art showoff", therefore I moved it into what it was named as. It belongs to "Community > Multimedia" because it's about graphics and not about Open Tibia.

So now that we established a need for a place to post sprites, I could possibly create a subforum under Open Tibia > Resources.

So spiriting for Projects for on Tibia based servers isn't related to Open Tibia? lal.
It's the same as Posting Mappings in the Mapping Section..... it's aswell "Art"!

You clearly didn't understand what I wrote. Spriting is related to OT. "Small Art" is not. There was never a "Spriting" forum here.

Should move "Small Art" to 'OpenTibia' and rename it to "Sprites Showoff" or something of the likes.
If you want to keep a "Small Art" board under multimedia, have it renamed into "Pixel Art" or merge it with "Large Art" and just call it "Art" and change the description of the board.
To keep the size of the main board as you want it you can merge 'Support' with 'Resources' (and maybe rename it to like "Coding", "Scripts" or something cuz 'Resources' is a bit confusing imo).

TL;DR board layout suggestion:

OpenTibia
>News
>Discussion
>Advertisements
>Downloads
(>>Downloads existing sub forums)
>Scripting (Resources)
(>>Resources existing sub forums)
>>Support
>Tutorials
>Jobs
>Mapping Showoff
>Spriting Showoff
>OTClient

(And yes, I flipped a few boards after my own preference, not necessary though. But you get the main idea about what board changes I think could be good.)

I think the support board should be like third place. Because it's one of the most used boards here on this forum.

Yes, and rename it or create a new section for OT Sprites - votes 23

How many of those voters want only "new section for OT Sprites"?
This poll is very biassed.

Please link a few threads from Small Art sections that you think would fit in a (not existing yet) "Open Tibia > Resources > Sprites" forum.

If there is enough of them, I'll create the forum and then everyone will be able to report a thread in the Small Art forum to request it being moved into the new "Sprites" forum.
I'll then consider merging "Small Art" and "Large Art" if there is no distinctive benefit to keeping them separate.

If you go to the Small Art section, almost all of the threads on the first and second page (and onwards) fit the bill. I guess you can take the most active ones from the first page or two, then let the others who are interested in moving there send requests. In my thread, I have some links to preview 'large art' works as well, but if the new board is going to be just sprites-specific, I will remove that. I suppose the same can be said for other artists who have more than sprites in their art showoff.

This is even worse idea. You want to move ART section to resources to make people think that these works are without copyrights? :O

You are right. I couldn't find a single thread under "Small Art" that would include a download link for any sprites that the author wanted to share. If the material posted can't be useful for anyone else, there's no place for it under "Resources". Showoff fits right where it is - under Multimedia. Everyone who makes data packs, Lua scripts, and so on and only wishes to share screenshots or video demonstrations also must post under Multimedia and there's been no issue with that.
