Codicia is a server created as the successor to my previous project, GreedOT. Initially based on a downgraded version of forgottenserver (8.60), it evolved into its own fork and ultimately transitioned to a fully independent engine, translated to Spanish and customized.

Map Description

This server features a massive map originally based on the Evolutions map, now transformed into a highly detailed desert region. While retaining the classic Evolution structure it is a single-region map measuring approximately 1500 SQM * 1500 SQM. The region design emphasizes a sense of isolation and difficulty, requiring players to navigate through various environments connected by subterranean passages, bridges, teleports, and doors that often require specific missions to unlock.

Enigma is the only city within the game. This city serves as the central hub for players, offering essential services, shops, and the primary starting point for every adventurer. At Enigma temple, players can also enter to the PvP arena or the training zone, via a portal.

Hunting Grounds

Enigma is surrounded by various hunting zones, each interspersed with special areas where players can encounter one of the approximately 15 NPCs named O’aka. These NPCs provide vital supplies such as potions or runes, making them essential stops during extended hunts.

The map’s design carefully scales in difficulty, starting with beginner zones near Enigma, then progressing to mid-level and finally high-level zones. Beginners generally won’t encounter high-level areas unless a raid spawns, temporarily altering the difficulty of a specific zone.

Technical and Performance

The server is hosted in Chile at zgh.cl on a highly stable virtual machine, offering an excellent performance for players from Chile, and a very stable performance for international players who reported no significant issues while playing.

Codicia uses mehah’s otclient with RSA encryption, fully translated to Spanish and adapted to 8.6 protocol. Connections from other clients are blocked, ensuring a secure and bot-free environment. This server also focuses on major updates to keep the experience fresh. Bugs were thoroughly addressed during the alpha and beta stages, and even at our previous project GreedOT; any new issues are resolved swiftly.

Hello brother If I can be totally honest with you, as a chilean myself and with spanish as my first language, I don't think translating the entire game into spanish would be a good feature for the server, and let me tell you why.

We, as non native english speakers, have been playing this game for two decades already and we've already "mechanized" it with all the items involved. Over time, we've "standardized" the game as we know it. If you asked me to translate "studded legs" into spanish for example, I wouldn't be able to give you a certain answer, even though I know exactly what it is in the game, other example might be 'spike sword (espada puntuda¿?) and many others. I can see that the chat logs are assisted in blue, but still, it’s going to be extremely confusing to know how to interact with trade npcs.

Also, why exclude brazilians, who have good enough latency to play? portuguese might be similar, but it’s going to be an extra headache for this playerbase.

I played GreedOT and enjoyed it a lot, so I'm definitely going to try this one too. However, if it's not too technically demanding, I'd prefer to use english for the chat logs to avoid unnecessary headaches and confusion.

Thanks so much for the comment, @rinoo. The translation was done meticulously, word by word, with ChatGPT's assistance, ensuring that every sentence in Spanish is contextually accurate. I believe this is the first time that a full spanish translation has been achieved.

Specifically for trading and interacting with NPCs, I kept all the keywords in English as well.

Hosting the server in Chile, where the majority of our players are from, allows us to offer the game in their native language, which makes a significant difference. We also want to create a welcoming experience for newcomers to Tibia, especially those who live here. ZGH hosting has proven to be very reliable, even with its location in Chile, though I’ll keep an eye on any latency issues that players from other regions might encounter.

Server opened at 10:00 a.m., for some reason it started a bit earlier automatically, I was surprised to see some guys already playing at 9:30 a.m. aproximatelly haha. Have fun guys! Call me if you need any support.

I'm aware that you didn't liked the fact we closed GreedOT last year, and 2022. But as soon you start playing Codicia you will notice how much the server has grown (we tracked all the bugs that we're unsolved those last years, and many others. That's why we did an alpha and beta stage before opening). That wouldn't be possible without your help on that previous servers.

@onTopic everything working good so far. Almost 2 days online, memory remains stable, no bugs so far execpt by an issue on Jyscal npc, that we're wrongly giving wand of decay instead of underworld rod when buying (solved in 3~ minutes after report). Also NPC Rin wasn't selling burst arrows, so we added them for 15 gp each one; additionally to that, we will enable the spell exevo con flam tomorrow so people can craft them too.

I also added a page with donators to be fully transparent on how the server is going, all the donations are crucial to our maintainance.

Quick review of what has been happening this last days. Everything run excellent, we get aware that raids we're too powerfull for early game, and we disabled the system to rebuild it a little bit (no more deads by Pirate Corsairs). We also tracked some little bugs that are solved inmediatly.
  • We get a report that svargrond arena chests we're not working, for this I checked it and realised that the line that gives the attribute to the item had a bad type on the code. So we fixed it and now works perfectly.
  • We checked on console (thanks to the constant prints I do on it) that the carlin sword chest had a bug. So I fixed it quickly.
  • We had a complaint that people had to move backpacks for too long roads, in order to have resources to hunt. For this I added more O'aka NPCs on the world map, and also, added more mailboxes to make it easier to loot big bags and backpacks.
  • There was a bad stair on north cyclops, we get rid of it and updated the map on the server save
This was everything we could get on this few days. So i'm really happy because those are really little and low amount of errors, and says that the server is doing it's job really really well. We also noticed that the diagonal walking while using map click is not working so good, so we're planning to upload a patch as soon as possible based on this post OTClient - Problem in the walking system (auto walk) when there is an obstacle in front (https://otland.net/threads/problem-in-the-walking-system-auto-walk-when-there-is-an-obstacle-in-front.274008/#post-2640343)

I'll inmediatly post after the patch got uploaded, this is not a critical thing at all so it's up to the players if they desire to update the client or not. Anyways I will message them to be aware as soon it is avaible.

The game should be set to English only, as it is a globally recognized language. There should be a way for this OTClient or Client v8 to automatically translate into English, Portuguese, or Spanish. It would be ideal to have an option where the user can choose, and the OTClient would then change all NPC dialogues and other elements to the selected language, similar to how it works in games like Ravendawn Online, PokexGames, and other well-known titles.

Thanks for commenting, Matheus! The challenge with automated translations is that they often lack contextual accuracy. Additionally, many messages come directly from sources, which would require hardcoding each language—a bit beyond my programming skills at the moment. There are also other technical considerations we could discuss via PM.

@onTopic Taking this two replies, I don't deny that I could achieve this same server on english. I would prefer to host a secondary server on NA/EU if so. But there's no resources for that yet. So I'll keep focusing on make this Codicia community grow and we'll see on future.

Quick review, we had to do very little adjustments. The first thing is that we removed some creatures that we're too powerfull for some respawns, such as Vulcongras nearby Sibangs, Kongras and Merklins, some Quaras that we're moving throught the desert, and some Sandstorm Scorpions nearby the Dark Cathedral. Now those zones are accessible for newcomers (such as others that had been modificated a little bit).

We also added a few Tarantulas and Gnarlhounds arround the city to make their tasks much more easier, added a new O'aka NPC close to Yielothaxes, we added the sale of might rings to Keyakku (250gp each), we fixed a little bug on Minotaurs and Necromancers boss room, overall, this was all that has been reported as priority issues from the server.

Now, the most important update that is going to be uploaded tomorrow (6:55 a.m. GMT-3) after server save, is a rework of the raid system. We don't want to overlay raids in order to have the best memory performance from the server. For this we settled the raids in this way, as an early try to see if they fit well.

  • Demodras / 10:30 pm / Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
  • Arachir The Ancient One / 9:00 am / Monday, Friday and Saturday

We reduced the power from pirate raids. So don't be afraid to explore, cutthroat pirates and corsair pirates won't spawn. In replacement, the hardest pirate you will encounter probably will be a Buccaneer or a Ghost, among Skeletons or Smugglers.

Some adjustements. We figured that days we're not been applied correctly at raids, with @Xikini we managed to print the days, and he also did some modifications to the globalevent in charge of the raids. We're very sorry for this, because some really hard raids been causing deaths on newcomers. For this, we settled the correct configuration and now we're running them correctly.

We also have changed some days and times for the following raids.
  • Ron The Ripper / 1:00 am / Monday only
  • Brutus Bloodbeard / 3:30 am / Sunday only
  • Lethal Lissy / 2:30 am / Friday only
  • Devious Deadeye / 2:30 am / Tuesday only
It was really annoying to get one-shoted by Devious specifically, at the desert. So this won't happen anymore. Added to this, we did several changes to the Quara's cave to get more space for AoE attacks. We also removed lots of water elementals from there, since they're not being good for hunting and they we're struggling the hunt there.

I also added two levers on Jyscal's magic shop to easily buy wand of vortex and snakebite rods. We decreased the .oz from donation sets to half, and, for donation crossbow and bow we set the unproprely flag to level 8 since it was previously settled up for level 50 (requested by Fagoor, thanks for reporting).

Another really important update we did is to add many level doors to some hunting places, so newcomers don't explore areas where they have a really high chance to die. We're aware that Codicia is a really hard server, but we're making this changes to don't make players get tilted before they can actually explore the server. We also added a hint in a place where players must use exani hur "arriba or exani hur "abajo, since this spell was translated to spanish too, players had some troubles to get used to it. As always, all the changes will be applied today at 6:55 a.m. at server save. At last, we enhanced our discord with Nitro so it has better performance, and quality for transmissions, voices, etc.

  • New patch for raid system by @Xikini
  • Rework of Quara cave, removed water elementals, increased space for AoE
  • Added levers to buy wand of vortex and snakebite rod
  • Reduced oz. from donation sets to half. Changed unproperly flag from donation bow and xbow to level 8.
  • Added lever doors to many hunting places to avoid undesired deaths
  • Added more hints to the map, and changed a few respawns to be less powerful
  • Enhanced discord server with Nitro
  • Changed spawntime from 45 seconds to 60 seconds for every respawn

Added a new update with a better Quara zone, mapped it and added a new O'aka NPC at the bottom. The feedback I received was that it was difficult to loot Quaras, because the respawn is fast. We managed to solve it by adding this NPC to sell the loot much more easier. We added another O'aka NPC at Cultists, resulting as a total of 20 loot NPCs all over the map.

We also implemented a new page on our website, where all the information about raids is organized and easy to read. A last thing is that we added some loot missing items to the shops. I spefically added this missing ones to Arito, and in future we're planning to cover any other loot item that needs to be selled, on Arito. Some other minor stuff is that I changed the location of Hairman The Huge, removed an ice witch from mammoths zone, and some water elementals, added more mammoths instead to make the task easier; added a new level door at Nightmare Scion, Quaras and Sphinxes too.

Another update for Mammoths, mostly changes on the respawn and much more detail on the map.

We also tracked a few things that needed to be updated:
  • Changed traduced names that we're matching, "fiery heart" and "burning heart". All the creatures that loots fiery hearts have the correct loot now. Also added that as loot on Arito.
  • Added frazzle tongues, frazzle skin, blazing bone, and many other missing items to Arito.
  • Changed attack value from power bolts to 47, and piercing bolts to 40. We also changed the requiered level to cast those two ammunition spells to the correct one. We did a depth review to Rin's shop and every ammunition price
  • Added ammunitions to every O'aka of the game (excluding the Enigma city one). Also added parcels and labels to each one of those
  • Reworked raid page on website, with some images
  • Fixed a wrong stair at Ghoulish Hyenas
  • Few rework on some respawns (really minor changes)
  • Visible requiered level for Demon and Demon Outcast tasks at website

Overall this was all that has been reported recently. I'm doing a quite good job solving all the incoming feedback, doing a very fast response. All the changes mentioned will be uploaded tomorrow 11/09/2024 at 6:55 am. GMT -4 Chile.

Added a new path very close to depots, that arrives to Orcs. This zone and dwarves have being a bit skipped, so I wanted players to get there much more easier. I also modified cyclops hill to increase the average experience a little more, added more details with the context of the monsters on the site. Also did a rework at carniphilas/mutated humans zone to increase the experience gained, and also get rid of unused respawns.
