Hi there it is nice to greet You...
I am a retired player probably older than most of You.
However due to nostalgic experiences of this game and some free time I have decided to launch my first OT project.
Between many versions of this game I have the best memories with 8.0 version. It was a version when I have stopped my journey with this game.
However, as we all know, this is the kind of game you will come back to sooner or later,
and I feel like for me this time has arrived, but to the point:
I would like to run a small 8.0 server project for myself and a few friends.
I'm not very familiar with current operating systems and there is some black magic to me.
Instead of studying for hours, I would like to ask someone interested for help.
I will need help with many basic things that will seem like trivial work to most experienced users.

All of these, I am not bad at mapping at all and this is my strong side, so I'm gonna need some help with:
1. Fit the correct server files(sources+compiled ones) for Tibia 8.0 protocol. (TFS 1.2 or some)
2. I'm going to use OTCv8 client instead of original.
3. Setup server and add website on dedicated server with ddos protection. (Znote for example)
4. I want to feel free to add new map areas or new items to the game.
5. Learn me how to access server from my desk to provide new changes.
I can not pass alone by through these steps, if I would I would not post this. For some of You this may sounds funny, but I'm not so well skilled at IT.
At not far future I would like to add new monsters, outfits, auras and wings so if You would be able to help me with these small steps I could hire You later.
The project implementation date is scheduled for 12/08/25

Royal greetings, may The Banor watch over You!

I'm going to give you a piece of advice that, if someone had given me when I first started, it would have saved me a lot of time and effort.

1st – My advice is to start with an up-to-date engine. I strongly recommend OTG, which currently receives frequent updates from Mateus Roberto:
GitHub - otg-br/otg-server: Otg Server is a clean, script-free, RL-map-free datapack based on TFS 1.3. (https://github.com/otg-br/otg-server)

This one uses version 12.87, but with outdated 11.x .spr files.

Or maybe the official TFS 1.4.2, which uses protocol 10.98.

(But you want version 8.0, right?) In that case, just disable the features you don’t want on the client/server and downgrade it to 8.0.

At least you’ll have access to many features, easier scripting, community support, and a wide variety of maps and files to use as a base.

2nd – For the client, I recommend OTCV8 OTA. It’s still being updated by the Otacademy team, lightweight, stable...

3rd – I recommend MyAAC. It’s easy to use, probably the most actively updated AAC system, and very simple to modify or implement new layouts.
As for the VPS, that depends on your preference and location.

4th – With the setup I mentioned, you’ll have way more freedom to create, instead of being limited to 8.0 .spr files.

5th – Learn how to use WinSCP and PuTTY — these are essential and the easiest tools to manage your server files.

BONUS – Before asking anything, know that Otland is packed with information and tutorials... you can find practically anything there.
And nowadays, ChatGPT and DeepSeek can help you even more. I started from absolute zero, and today I really enjoy creating.

He is literally saying he wants an 8.0 and you are recommending a 12.87?
If I wanted to do a downgrade, I’d do it to Black-Tek by codina (10.98 based on 1.4.2[I don't know how to explain it so that Codina doesn't get angry.🫣]) and not to "otg".
ot to mention, he probably doesn’t have the knowledge to setting a downgrade.
------------------

Server:
i would recommend nekiro 1.5 (8.00) but it has a lot of bugs and cloning.
the closest is 8.6 modified by sarah

I don't know what the big difference is between 8.6 and 8.0.
but it is faster to hide it or disable those differences on the client side (only lua [widget:hide(), break, skipp, setVisible, delete modules, etc...]).

client:
I don't know if you have the knowledge to compile or not, but in this repo it is precompiled.

Thank You for your time and advices mr @Bee King Now I know what I want to do... so...
A protocol 10.98 sounds fine to me. Is there someone who can do these configuaration steps(I mean by that TFS 1.4.2 +OTCV8 OTA 10.98 client + + add real map data pack + website) and also would like to get extra money by saving my nervous system and reduce stress due to installation process.

@edit
Most of these tutorials are still black magic to me. It took me 2 days to launch the server. Still have not figured it out how I did it.

@error… you said HE asked for version 8.0. Then you went on to recommend BlackTek (for a beginner) and Sara’s Nekiro? Haha, that’s funny. You could’ve made your recommendations without mentioning mine.

I firmly believe that downgrading to TFS 1.4.2 and OTG is the best path for someone who’s just starting out.

Here @Deus Rex on a Brazilian forum, you’ll find exactly everything you need to run a server in the best possible way.

The author of the post literally wrote: "I would like to run a small 8.0 server project for myself and a few friends."

The closest downgrade "bug-free" one I know of is Sara's.

Then you talked about downgrading to OTG,
to which I commented, if anyone were to do a downgrade, it would be Blacktek.

Why Sarah or Blacktek for a beginner?
Both repositories use the manifest system (vcpkg.json), both have updated wiki, have videotutorials (blacktek made by codina, 1.5 made by ralke), which is very easy to compile, without fmt errors[1.4.2 default has many errors(if you compile today)]. Both have release versions (just download and run), and both are active (Sara’s repo not so much, but Codina’s has commits every day),

and Deus Rex asked for a downgrade, therefore the logical choice is sarah 8.6

I just found out there’s a repository called OTG, which is 12.87, no 8.6 or 8.0…

I looked at its commits and saw this:
