Necronia - Discussion

Is it an issue that's open to exploiting? I get wanting to cap the issues of crashes, but keeping it down and not allowing us to test and play it while there isn't a detrimental issue is counter-productive.

It's not related to any of the ingame activity. There is a memory leak in the engine code that's been here for almost a month now, and we were not able to repair it yet mainly due to the inability to locate it and lack of Tarjei's time for Necronia development. It ate all the memory and the server can't operate anymore, so the host PC has to be restarted. We're doing that right now and it will run afterwards, so you can expect it online in about 10-15 mins I guess.

It's online for those who are waiting.

You've successfully made one of the best servers around, great work mate.
Thank you mate, we're glad to hear that.

Woha, this looks really sick!!! any realese date set yet?
Thanks! No set release date yet, because there's always stuff that pops out in the last moment and causes a setback. Should've been done in this month but due to unexpected hardware difficulties we've been set back almost 2 months so there's lots to do now.

Hey everyone!
It's been a while since the last news update, but it takes quite a while to compile and write a quality post, so I postponed until we did a bunch of stuff worthy of display.
And now that time has come!

So sit back, and check out what's been going on on Necronia for the past few days.

Slay the baddies!
We have increased the drop chances for loot on most existing bosses, and we're planning to keep them increased for the future bosses too.
We want to encourage players to wander into the dark dungeons and slay these creatures with proper motivation.

Bosses affected by this change: Rawlar, Wormother, Taranterror, Geogroddon, Restless Gerakryll, Cyclops Smith.

Cling, clonk, clink!

What's that? The sound of every player smithing new items?
That's right!
In the past 2 days, we added a ton of new items into the crafting system, and now you're finally able to power up your character to withstand the strength of some of the Avernum creatures.
You can check the changelog to see more information about this, but most of the new items can be seen on the picture below.
Groups affected by these changes:
Spears, Magic items, Shields, Fist weapons, Swords, Clubs, Axes, Bows, Crossbows, Daggers.

Rebalancing and New Spells
We've made a bunch of changes and fixed several major bugs with some of the ranger vocations.
Following these changes, Spearmen should now be much more reliable in terms of damage (fixed the bug with hit inconsistency) and their low level spells have been repaired to deal proper damage and have proper scaling.
Their spellbook still has a lot of bugs which will be removed in the 1.17 update.
Shadowstrikers have been changed so that they don't rely on [Dagger Throw] as their main spell/damage output, but rather use it as a mechanic to slow down an escaping/approaching enemy while poking with a bit of damage. Some of their other spells, such as [Vast Incision] and [Backstab] have been reconfigured to deal more damage so that they can be used as a main damage-dealing combo.

We also fixed a bug with [Backstab] where position detection did not work properly even if you stood behind your target.

Shadowstrikers also have new forms of support for their power and spells through some of the new daggers that have been implemented.

Hunters also received a smack with the balance hammer, or should we call it a BUFF hammer? They now have a ton of new support through the newly implemented bows, as well as a new spell that you'll be able to read about in an image below. The spellbook changes will arrive in 1.17. [Tame] has been changed so that it's much more efficient and more rewarding for its users.

And last but not least, a warrior class - Wildheart, has also received some nice changes. We have completely fixed and updated their mid-level "Centipede Form" that has been broken for a while.
Now their passive properly works, and they have 2 new spells for this form. [Skitter] is also now much more effective because instead of doubling, it quadruples the passive damage bonus.

Join the SDC (finally)!
NPC Commander Zen has been added to the game, finally allowing you to start the SDC storyline and join this mighty army. So far, a bunch of missions are available (the semi-final one doesn't work because of the lack of needed NPCs), but the questline is definitely worth starting as it rewards a lot of experience, military points and interesting information.

Hit up Commander Zen in his office in the SDC headquarters in Conqueria to start the quest.

That would be all for now.
Expect more updates very soon (ingame) and follow our changelog to see the latest changes immediately, since i'll be waiting for content to accumulate in order to post another news update.

We would also like to invite everyone who has access to beta to come re-visit Necronia and check out all the new stuff that has been added. We need help testing it, and you'll surely be excited to explore and discover the content.

See you all on Necronia!

Thank you mate, we're glad to hear that.

I understand and will be waiting for this beast server. :)
