this has probly been suggested before, but you could host an OTLand chat room, where we can log in on our Forum accounts and just speak with each other.

mIRC is just a client for the IRC protocol, who is forcing you to use it? There are many other IRC clients like irssi, XChat, ChatZilla etc.
