The problem is that you apparently expect to have a peaceful time in the old Tibia, just walking around carelessly, killing monsters unbothered, and only meet nice people sometimes. But Tibia was NEVER liked that. It was full of power abusers, player killers, lurers, lootbag thieves, and thugs of all sorts. You would constantly come across all kinds of traps, deal with local gangs, and struggle with everything. There was no such thing as playing solo in the old Tibia. Diplomacy and politics were the crucial skills, way before leveling or pure pvp. You had to know how to get along, settle matters, make pacts, and maneuver between different interest groups (or become one of them and fight for your own interests). We didn't promise anyone an idyllic candy world. We promised the real old Tibia feeling. And the old Tibia was a world full of chaos, evil and danger, in which you had to watch your every step. If you go back to the first announcement of Tibiantis, long before its launch, it LITERALLY says that in the very FIRST paragraph:
For reference:
Tibiantis - reversed old Tibia project - discussion thread (https://otland.net/threads/tibiantis-reversed-old-tibia-project-discussion-thread.267116/)
Does it suck? Each to their own. Did many players quit because of that? Yes, granted. It's not for everyone and neither was the old Tibia. That's why Cipsoft began to change the game, make it easier, less harsh, and generally more acceptable/pleasant to the casual player, because most of them couldn't get past level 30. But Tibiantis is a project for all those who miss the old era, and we clearly said that since the very beginning. Tibiantis is not just another modern server with the old Tibia sprites; it IS the old Tibia. It's maybe not for you, I can understand that, but don't come here to blame us for what the old Tibia was!
Yes, I wish we had more streams, but it is what it is. Realistically, if streaming was a thing back then, it would've been very hard as well. In fact, most of the worlds in the old times were much much worse. If you were a nobody, had no friends, and wasn't familiar with the map well enough to know where to hunt to stay out of sight and away from all the noise, the ruling guilds would just approach you and make you pay your armor, boh, and eventually every penny. This doesn't happen here so often, not anywhere near that, and it's not true that you can't stream in Tibiantis at all. There are players who were able to do so and play neutral, you just have to find your way around it. Don't expect anyone to do it for you, being a streamer doesn't automatically buy you any special protection or puts you out of all the struggle under special rules.
Also, there are always two sides. While the old Tibia was harsh and painful, it also created opportunities for the greatest adventures and unforgettable stories thanks to what it was. Because every aspect of the game involved interaction with other players (i.e. role playing), and because everything was so meaningful and hard to come by, it always carried memories that would last for years. In the end, it won't matter what level you achieved or how much exp you had lost dying to PKs, but only those memories. That's why many people still remember those times with great nostalgia and don't feel the same for the modern games (not only because they are older now). If you change your mindset you can find all of that in Tibiantis too. But if you play not for adventure, but to kill some mobs in peace to relieve stress, there is the new Tibia (hack'n'slash version) and other servers for that.
So again, please stop blaming us or flaming Tibiantis for everything. If you don't feel like it's for you, then don't play, but stop making drama or telling us to turn it into what the other servers (supposedly) are. This thread has just become the 2nd biggest thread in the otland history today (!), which demonstrates great interest in THIS server. Yet, 90% of all those pages is complaining about everything and coming up with reasons not to play. Because Ankrahmun, because update, because too many players, because queues for spawns, because too few players, because Venezuelans, because pk, because lured giant spider, because they stole my lootbag... OMG. One would think that today's players must be able to see things from different perspectives, but this really allows us to go back in time and feel how Cip must have felt 20 years ago.
That's utter bullshit, you're saying it out of pure spite. No one is doing that, there are barely any multi-clients at all, let alone say 5-6 per one player. Another thing that we also promised was that we would beat the shit out of every cheater, and you now won't find another server that is equally persistent and effective at this. I just banned, a few days ago, several accounts including two of level 100 (all the "connected" ones), literally because one guy abused x-log to keep two characters online at the same time. And you think someone can keep mc-ing 6 characters just like that without being noticed? Unlikely.
But as always, when someone appears to publicly badmouth the server by saying how full of cheaters it is - I offer you, also publicly, one year of premium time (or a cash equivalent if you prefer, let's say 90 euro), just for pointing one such farm. Of course, we don't count it if you set up one yourself just now, but in any other case I declare publicly that I will personally pay you that money if you are right, let's find out. Guess what, no matter how much I offered, none of those slanderers even tried to bend down for easy money, ever.
Merry Christmas, again!
